Common Enemies

Encountered frequently throughout Pi'illo Island and the Dream World, these foes are your bread and butter for gaining experience and coins. While some are simple, others can pose a threat if underestimated.

Goomba

  • Location: Mushrise Park, Pi'illo Castle (early areas)
  • Attacks:
    • Headbonk: Charges forward to headbonk Mario or Luigi. Jump to counter.
  • Strategy: The most basic enemy. A single jump attack from either Mario or Luigi is usually enough. use your Bros. Attacks like the 3D Red Shell for quick, multi-target clearance if facing groups.
  • Drops: 1-Up Mushroom (rare), Coins

Spiny

  • Location: Dozing Sands, Mount Pajamaja
  • Attacks:
    • Spiny Charge: Rolls towards a brother. Cannot be jumped on. Use hammer.
    • Spiny Toss (Dream World): In the Dream World, a Spiny might be thrown by a larger enemy. Watch for its shadow to jump.
  • Strategy: Always use your hammer for ground attacks. Jumping on a Spiny will result in damage. In the Dream World, if a Spiny is tossed, time your jump carefully to avoid it.
  • Drops: Super Mushroom, Nuts

Lakitu

  • Location: Wakeport, Somnom Woods
  • Attacks:
    • Spiny Drop: Flies overhead and drops a Spiny. The Spiny will then attack as usual.
    • Cloud Ram: Occasionally, the Lakitu itself will swoop down to ram a brother. Jump to dodge.
  • Strategy: Prioritize taking out the Lakitu first to prevent it from dropping more Spinies. Jump attacks are effective. If it drops a Spiny, deal with the Spiny using a hammer.
  • Drops: Syrup, 10-Coin Bag

Boss Encounters

Bosses are formidable foes that require careful planning, precise timing, and often specific Bros. Attacks or gear. Always save before a boss fight and consider stocking up on healing items like Super Mushrooms and Syrup.

Boss: Antasma (First Encounter)

  • Location: Pi'illo Castle (Dream World)
  • Phases:
    1. Bat Form: Antasma will fly around, summoning smaller bats and occasionally swooping down.
    2. Pillow Form: After taking enough damage, he'll transform into a large pillow, becoming vulnerable to ground attacks.
  • Attacks & Counters:
    • Bat Swarm: Summons several small bats. Use a wide-area Bros. Attack like Luigi's Wall Jump or Fire Flower to clear them quickly.
    • Energy Orb: Fires a dark energy orb. Watch for his arm movement; if he pulls it back slowly, it's a fast orb. If he winds up, it's slower. Jump to dodge.
    • Pillow Slam: In pillow form, he'll attempt to slam down on a brother. Time your jump to avoid the shockwave.
    • Dreamy Bat Spin: In the Dream World, Dreamy Luigi can use his special abilities to create a vortex of bats. This attack is crucial for dealing significant damage.
  • Recommended Gear: Equip gear that boosts POW or DEF. The Work Pants (found in Mushrise Park) are a good early DEF option.
  • Strategy: Focus on dealing consistent damage. In his bat form, jump attacks are effective. Once he's a pillow, unleash your strongest Bros. Attacks. Keep an eye on your HP and SP, using Super Mushrooms and Syrup as needed. use Dreamy Luigi's unique abilities for massive damage output.
  • Rewards: EXP, Coins, Antasma Shard (key item)

Boss: Grobot

  • Location: Mount Pajamaja
  • Attacks & Counters:
    • Punch: Charges a punch. Watch which arm he raises; jump over the punch from the corresponding side.
    • Rocket Punch: Fires a fist like a rocket. Jump to dodge.
    • Laser Beam: Charges a laser from his chest. This attack hits both brothers. Jump repeatedly to minimize damage.
    • Self-Repair: If his head is knocked off, he will attempt to reattach it. Attack the head to prevent repairs.
  • Strategy: Grobot is a tough mechanical foe. Focus on his head; repeated jump attacks can knock it off, stunning him and preventing his more powerful attacks. While his head is detached, he's vulnerable to all attacks. Use Bros. Attacks like Bomb Derby or Star Rocket for high damage. Be prepared for his laser beam, as it can deplete your health quickly.
  • Recommended Gear: Equip badges that boost defense or provide healing effects, such as the Heart Badge (found in Dozing Sands).
  • Rewards: EXP, Coins, Mount Pajamaja Key (key item)
