Kanya is a formidable boss on Barrendale Mesa, specializing in manipulating sand and ambushing your team. In her first phase, Kanya will frequently burrow underground, becoming untargetable, and then emerge to attack a hero. She will also summon Sandworms and Blasters. Your main challenge is dealing damage to her when she is vulnerable. When Kanya is above ground, focus all your attacks on her. She often has a weakness to a specific element (e.g., Splash or Gust), so equip appropriate Sparks. Heroes with area-of-effect attacks like Bowser's Bowser Bomb or Rabbid Mario's Boomerang can be effective against the Sandworms she summons, forcing them out of the ground. Keep your heroes spread out to avoid her ambush attacks and utilize cover against the Blasters. Pay attention to the ground for signs of her burrowing, as this can indicate her next attack location.
Phase 2: Sand Barriers & Ultimate Attack
As Kanya's health decreases, she will enter a more aggressive phase. She might create impenetrable sand barriers to protect herself, requiring you to destroy them with specific elemental attacks or bypass them with movement abilities. She might also unleash a powerful ultimate attack that covers a large area, requiring precise positioning to avoid. Continue to focus on dealing damage to Kanya whenever she is vulnerable. If she creates sand barriers, prioritize destroying them to open up attack lanes. Luigi's long-range attacks can be useful for hitting her over obstacles. Rabbid Peach's healing will be crucial for recovering from her powerful attacks. Don't be afraid to use consumable items like Super Stars for temporary invulnerability if you anticipate a devastating attack.
