Environmental Hazard Exploitation Strategies

The battlefields of MARVEL Cosmic Invasion are not just backdrops; they are dynamic arenas filled with environmental hazards that can be turned to your advantage. Mastering the exploitation of these hazards can be the difference between victory and defeat, especially when facing overwhelming odds in locations like the treacherous ruins of Xandar.

One common hazard is the volatile Plasma Vents. These vents periodically erupt with bursts of superheated plasma, dealing significant damage to anyone caught in their radius. These vents typically activate on a 10-second cycle, with a 3-second eruption period. Enemies, particularly the lumbering Groot Sentinels, are often slow to react to these eruptions. You can lure these enemies into the path of an impending plasma burst. For example, if a Plasma Vent is about to erupt in 5 seconds, and you can bait a Groot Sentinel into its zone, you can deal an additional 300 damage to it without expending any of your own hero abilities. This is especially effective when dealing with multiple enemies; a well-timed lure can damage several foes simultaneously.

Another environmental element to consider is the Gravitational Anomalies. These localized distortions in spacetime can pull or push players and enemies. Some anomalies create a strong inward pull, drawing everything towards their center, while others create an outward force. These anomalies often appear near unstable energy conduits. A strategic use of these anomalies involves using them to group enemies together for devastating area-of-effect attacks. For instance, if you encounter a cluster of Skrull Warriors near an anomaly that pulls inwards, you can position yourself at the edge of its effect and wait for the enemies to be drawn close. Once they are within a tight formation, unleash a powerful ability like Thor's Mjolnir Storm, which can hit up to 5 targets within a 10-meter radius, dealing an additional 50% damage due to the concentrated enemy positioning.

also be aware of destructible elements. Certain structures, like the crystalline formations found on the planet Knowhere, can be shattered. These formations often contain explosive energy cores. When destroyed, they detonate, dealing 200 damage in a 5-meter radius. Enemies like the Chitauri Foot Soldiers are particularly susceptible to these explosions. A common tactic is to target these formations when enemies are nearby, effectively using them as improvised explosives. Be cautious, however, as some explosions can also damage You if they are too close.
