The Sentinel class in Mass Effect 2 offers a unique blend of biotic and tech abilities, making them incredibly versatile and survivable. Mastering the Sentinel build allows you to control the battlefield, debuff enemies, and shrug off damage.
A strong Sentinel build focuses on maximizing both defensive and offensive capabilities. Key powers to prioritize include Warp, Overload, and Tech Armor. Warp is essential for stripping enemy defenses, especially shields and barriers, and its evolution, Warp Ammo, can be a lifesaver. Overload is crucial for dealing with shielded enemies and synthetics, and its evolution, Chain Overload, allows you to damage multiple targets. Tech Armor is your primary defensive tool; upgrading it to Fortification provides significant damage reduction and a powerful melee attack. Consider investing in Assault Armor for an area-of-effect blast that can stagger enemies. For your bonus power, consider something that complements your existing skillset. Reave is an excellent choice, offering both biotic damage and a healing effect, especially when evolved to Revenant for its increased damage and duration. Alternatively, a powerful offensive power like Incinerate or Singularity can provide additional crowd control or damage output. Weapon-wise, Sentinels excel with assault rifles and shotguns. The Mattock assault rifle is a solid choice for its sustained fire, while the Claymore or Eviscerator shotguns offer devastating close-range power. For heavy weapons, the Thanix Cannon or M-920 Cain are excellent for dealing with heavily armored targets or large groups. Squadmate selection is also important. For example, a squadmate with strong crowd control like Samara or Jack can help manage groups of enemies, while a heavy hitter like Grunt can draw aggro and deal significant damage. Remember to utilize cover effectively and manage your power cooldowns.
