Collector General

The Collector General is a key adversary in Mass Effect 2, a third-person shooter RPG developed by BioWare. This guide focuses on the main missions and the critical decisions Commander Shepard must make to confront the Collectors, particularly during the Suicide Mission.

Mass Effect 2 continues Commander Shepard's story two years after the first game. Shepard must join Cerberus to combat a new threat: the abductions of human colonists by the Collectors. Assembling a skilled team is crucial for the impending suicide mission into the heart of this threat.

The game's leveling system is simplified; experience is gained by completing missions, not by defeating enemies. Each major mission completion typically increases your character level, providing points for skill allocation. Skills are organized into four tiers, each requiring an increasing number of points.

The currency system in ME2 differs significantly from the first game. Credits are earned by completing missions, not by defeating enemies, and are limited. It is advised to be judicious with spending and to avoid unnecessary upgrades until later in the game. Most missions offer valuable weapons or upgrades, making skipping any mission generally not recommended as it depends on your class and play style.

The Suicide Mission, also known as Act 3, begins when the Normandy enters the Omega 4 Relay. This can be done after "Await IFF Installation" is complete. Once initiated, the mission sequence is locked, and the game proceeds to the Epilogue without breaks for using the Galaxy Map, completing assignments, or researching upgrades. If Shepard survives, additional missions (DLC or leftover from Acts 1 and 2) can then be completed.

  • Collector Base: Infiltration: Help your tech specialist navigate the ventilation shaft.
  • Stop the Collectors: This is the master mission for the remainder of the game.
