Horizon

The "Horizon" mission is a critical turning point in Mass Effect 2, marking the beginning of Act 2. This mission automatically triggers once Commander Shepard has completed four of the original (non-DLC) dossier missions, which involve recruiting new squad members.

Before "Horizon" activates, players will typically complete missions such as:

  • Dossier: The Warlord (Grunt)
  • Dossier: The Veteran (Zaeed - DLC, but counts towards the four if completed)
  • Dossier: The Master Thief (Kasumi - DLC, but counts towards the four if completed)
  • Dossier: The Assassin (Thane)
  • Dossier: The Justicar
  • Dossier: The Quarian (Tali)

It is generally advised to recruit Mordin first, as his presence allows access to upgrades in the Research Lab on the Normandy, which can be beneficial for subsequent missions. Once the prerequisite four dossier missions are fulfilled, the "Horizon" mission will become available, advancing the main storyline and introducing new challenges related to the Collectors.
