Basic Controls & Navigation
Mastering the basic controls and navigation is fundamental to your success in Mass Effect 3. Whether you're on foot, in cover, or piloting the Mako, understanding how to move Shepard and interact with the environment is paramount. This guide covers the core mechanics of movement, combat controls, and how to navigate the various menus and interfaces you'll encounter throughout your journey.
Movement on foot is generally fluid, allowing Shepard to sprint, take cover, and vault over obstacles. The cover system is intuitive; simply move towards a piece of cover and press the appropriate button to snap into it. While in cover, you can aim and fire your weapons, as well as use your abilities. Peeking out from cover allows for safer engagement with enemies. Melee attacks are also a vital part of combat, especially for close-quarters encounters or finishing off weakened foes.
Combat controls are designed for tactical engagement. Aiming down sights (ADS) provides precision, while hip-firing is faster but less accurate. Abilities are mapped to specific buttons, allowing for quick activation during combat. Shepard can also issue commands to squadmates, directing them to move to specific locations or focus fire on particular targets. Effective use of both Shepard's abilities and squadmate commands is crucial for overcoming challenging encounters.
