Your First Hour: A Guided Experience in Mass Effect 3

The initial moments of Mass Effect 3 thrust players into immediate action on Earth. After a brief interaction, a Heavy melee kill prompt appears as an enemy attempts to attack. A cutscene follows, featuring a child in the vents and a dialogue choice. The child disappears, and players follow Anderson through wreckage.

After regaining control, pick up ammo and reload. Follow Anderson out a window and around a corner. Witness a ship destroyed by Reaper fire, causing the platform to collapse. Proceed through wreckage to encounter two Alliance soldiers and the new enemy type: Cannibals. These mutated Batarians use arm cannons and grenades. They can cannibalize corpses to regain health and armor, which must be destroyed before they can be damaged again.

After defeating the first three Cannibals, speak with the soldiers to learn about a radio in their gunship. Cross the makeshift bridge, turn left, and locate a Med Kit among wreckage on the right. Another encounter with Cannibals follows, where they will use grenades. Dispatch them and find an M-8 Avenger assault rifle among the corpses where they emerged. Equip it and pick up the nearby radio to trigger the final encounter of the mission, which is scripted to end when ammo runs out, with the Normandy SR-2 arriving.
