Using Biotic & Tech Combos
Mastering Biotic and Tech Combos is the cornerstone of high-level combat in Mass Effect. These synergistic abilities allow you to chain devastating effects, turning the tide of battle against even the most formidable foes like Geth Primes or Krogan Battlemasters. A Biotic combo is initiated when a Biotic ability, such as Lift or Singularity, is applied to an enemy, priming them for a biotic explosion. A subsequent Biotic ability, like Throw or Warp, detonates this prime, dealing sificant damage and often staggering or incapacitating the target. The effectiveness of the combo scales with your character's Biotic skill and the level of the detonating ability. For instance, a fully upgraded Singularity followed by a fully upgraded Throw can instantly neutralize a group of weaker enemies.
Tech Combos function similarly but involve the use of Tech abilities. Abilities like Overload, Incinerate, or Sabotage can prime enemies, making them vulnerable to a Tech detonation. A common and highly effective Tech combo involves using Overload to strip shields from an enemy, followed by Incinerate to deal damage over time and potentially ite them. This is particularly useful against shielded enemies like Collectors or Vorcha. Certain classes, like the Engineer and Infiltrator, excel at initiating and detonating Tech combos, while Adepts and Vanguards are masters of Biotic combinations. Sentinel characters possess the unique ability to trigger both Biotic and Tech combos, offering unparalleled versatility.
The key to successful combo usage lies in understanding enemy resistances and vulnerabilities. For example, synthetic enemies like Geth are highly susceptible to Tech abilities, making Overload and Sabotage excellent choices for priming and detonating. Organic enemies, conversely, are more vulnerable to Biotic effects. Experimentation is crucial; try different ability pairings to discover what works best against various enemy types and in different combat scenarios. Remember that cooldowns play a sificant role. Managing your ability cooldowns effectively will ensure you always have a combo ready when you need it most, turning you into a true force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
