Upon arriving on the planet Eden Prime, your primary objective will be to investigate the mysterious beacon that has been detected. This initial foray into the unknown sets the stage for the galaxy-spanning adventure that awaits Commander Shepard. After disembarking from the Normandy SR-1, you will find yourself in a relatively safe area, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the controls and basic combat mechanics. Your squadmates, typically including Kaidan Alenko and Ashley Williams at this early stage, will offer guidance and commentary.
As you move through the initial areas of Eden Prime, you'll encounter your first hostiles: a small contingent of rogue Geth. These robotic adversaries are relatively weak but serve as an introduction to combat. Focus on utilizing cover effectively and targeting their weak points. You'll also find scattered loot, including ammunition and medi-gel, which are vital for survival. Keep an eye out for any unsecured crates or fallen soldiers, as they often contain useful supplies. The path to the beacon is generally linear at this point, guiding you through the desolate landscapes of the planet.
The first major obstacle you'll face is a more organized Geth defense. You'll need to clear out several waves of Geth Troopers and potentially a Geth Rocket Trooper. This is a good opportunity to practice using your squad's abilities. For instance, Kaidan's Warp biotic power can strip enemy armor, making them more vulnerable to your weapon fire. Pay attention to the environment; explosive barrels can be detonated to deal area-of-effect damage. After overcoming this resistance, you will finally reach the beacon. Interacting with it will trigger a powerful vision, revealing crucial information about the galaxy's impending doom and Shepard's unique destiny.
