Wolves and Bears, while less common than boars, pose a significant threat, especially bears. Wolves often hunt in packs, making them dangerous if you're outnumbered. Bears are solitary but incredibly powerful.
Strategy:
- Wolves: Similar to boars, ranged combat is preferred. If in melee, focus on one wolf at a time. Their attacks are fast, so dodging and quick counter-attacks are key. A good spear can often one-shot a wolf with a headshot.
- Bears: Bears are tanky and hit hard. A bow is almost essential for a safe encounter. Keep maximum distance and continuously fire arrows. If a bear gets close, a spear can be used, but be prepared to take damage. Consider setting traps (if unlocked) in their known territories before engaging.
- Traps: Crafting Simple Animal Traps (requires Sticks) can be effective against wolves and even bears if placed strategically. Lure the animal into the trap for an easy kill.
- Group Hunting: If you have recruited villagers with high hunting skills, they can assist you in hunting these dangerous animals, making the encounters much safer.
Bears provide a large amount of meat, fur, and valuable bear claws, making them highly rewarding but risky hunts.
