Recruiting & Staff Management
In Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the strength of Mother Base is directly proportional to the quality and quantity of its personnel. Recruiting enemy soldiers and managing your growing staff is a fundamental aspect of the game's strategic layer. These recruited soldiers, known as MSF (Militaires Sans Frontières) personnel, are assigned to various departments within Mother Base, each contributing to its overall functionality and your operational capabilities. The more skilled and numerous your staff, the more efficiently your base will operate, and the more advanced technologies you can research and develop. Effective recruitment and management are therefore paramount to your success.
Recruitment in Peace Walker primarily occurs through the "Capture" mechanic during missions and Extra Ops. When you incapacitate an enemy soldier, you can choose to capture them instead of eliminating them. These captured soldiers are then transported to Mother Base and integrated into your MSF. However, simply having a large number of soldiers isn't enough; you must also manage them effectively. Each soldier has a specific skill set and a morale level. Assigning soldiers to departments that match their skills will maximize their efficiency. For example, soldiers with high technical aptitude should be assigned to R&D, while those with combat experience are best suited for security or combat roles. Regularly check the morale of your troops; low morale can lead to decreased productivity and even desertion. Providing them with adequate facilities, such as the Mess Hall, and ensuring they are not overworked can help maintain high morale. A well-managed and motivated staff is the backbone of a powerful Mother Base.
