Chrysalis is a flying AI weapon that can be quite agile and difficult to hit. It uses homing missiles, a machine gun, and a powerful laser attack. The battle takes place in a large, open area with some cover.
Phase 1: Aerial Engagement
Chrysalis will fly around, launching missiles and firing its machine gun. Your primary target is its AI pod, located on its underside. Use assault rifles or machine guns to chip away at it, but rocket launchers are far more effective. When it prepares its laser attack, find cover immediately. The laser is devastating. It will occasionally land on platforms, offering a brief window for sustained fire.
Phase 2: Stun & AI Pod Exposure
After taking enough damage, Chrysalis will become temporarily stunned and drop to a lower altitude, exposing its AI pod more clearly. This is your best chance to deal heavy damage or tranquilize the AI pod for a non-lethal capture. For non-lethal, use your tranquilizer gun on the exposed core. Be aware that it will quickly recover and resume its attacks.
Recommended Loadout:
- Lethal: M16A1 (upgraded), RPG-7/M1 Bazooka (fully upgraded), Grenades.
- Non-Lethal: Mk. 22 (upgraded), Mosin Nagant, Stun Grenades.
- Items: Rations, First Aid Kits, Supply Marker (critical for rocket launcher ammo).
Keep moving, utilize cover, and prioritize hitting the AI pod with rockets when it's flying, and tranquilizer rounds when it's stunned. Capturing Chrysalis provides valuable AI boards.
