Effective staff management is the backbone of a successful Mother Base. Each soldier has stats in five key areas: Combat, R&D, Mess Hall, Medical, Intel, and Support. Their ranks (E, D, C, B, A, S) determine their proficiency. Your goal is to assign soldiers to departments where their highest stats can be utilized.

Key Strategies:
- Auto-Assign: Use the auto-assign feature initially, but always review it. The game doesn't always make the most optimal choices.
- Prioritize S-Ranks: Always place S-rank soldiers in their corresponding departments.
- Balance Teams: Ensure all departments have a decent level. Neglecting one can hinder your progress (e.g., low R&D means no new weapons).
- Combat Unit for Outer Ops: Assign your best combat soldiers to the Combat Unit to ensure success in Outer Ops missions, which yield valuable GMP and resources.
- Sickbay Management: Injured soldiers will be sent to the Medical Team. Ensure you have enough medical staff to heal them quickly.
- Dismissing Staff: If you have too many low-rank soldiers and not enough space, dismiss the lowest-ranked ones to make room for better recruits.
Regularly check your staff list and reassign as new, higher-ranked soldiers join your ranks. A well-optimized staff will significantly accelerate your R&D, improve your combat capabilities, and provide better support in the field.
