Phase 1 (First Encounter):

  • Attacks: Null primarily uses a machete for fast, deadly melee attacks. He can also throw knives.
  • Strategy: This is largely a CQC duel. Null is incredibly fast. Your best bet is to dodge his attacks and then counter with your own CQC combo. A successful CQC throw will stun him, allowing you to get a few shots in with your M1911A1. Do not try to out-melee him directly without a counter.
  • Recommended Gear: M1911A1, Rations.

Phase 2 (Later Encounters):

  • Attacks: In later encounters, Null gains new abilities, including a dash attack, smoke grenades, and more aggressive CQC. He might also use a silenced submachine gun.
  • Strategy: Maintain distance when possible. When he uses smoke, use Thermal Goggles if you have them to track him. If you don't, listen for his footsteps and try to anticipate his attacks. His dash attack can be dodged by rolling. Again, CQC counters are your best friend. After a successful counter, unload with your most powerful weapon. Tranquilizer weapons can also be used to stun him, but he recovers quickly.
  • Recommended Gear: M1911A1 (for counters), AK-47 or M63 (for damage), Thermal Goggles (if available), Rations, Life Medicine.

General Tips:

  • Learn his patterns: Null's attacks are fast but predictable once you learn their rhythm.
  • Don't get cornered: His CQC is devastating in close quarters. Keep moving.
  • Non-lethal option: While difficult, it is possible to defeat Null non-lethally using tranquilizers and CQC. This can sometimes yield unique rewards or dialogue.

Null is a test of your CQC mastery and reaction time. Practice your CQC counters to overcome him.
