Mission 4: The Hunt for FOX
Welcome, operative, to Mission 4. This mission marks a critical turning point as you pursue the elusive FOX unit. Stealth and resourcefulness are paramount. Prepare for a challenging infiltration and extraction.
Objective: Infiltrate and Neutralize FOX Operatives
Your primary goal is to locate and neutralize key FOX operatives within the designated area. Expect heavy resistance and advanced enemy patrols. Remember, non-lethal takedowns are often more advantageous for recruitment.
Initial Insertion and Reconnaissance
- Upon deployment, immediately move to cover. The initial area often features elevated guard posts.
- Recommended Gear: Equip your tranquilizer gun (Mk. 22 or EZ Gun if available) and binoculars.
- Path A (Stealthy Approach):
- Crawl through the ventilation shaft located on the ground level, usually found near the initial spawn point. This path often bypasses the first few patrols.
- Emerge into a storage room. Look for a Ration on a shelf to your left.
- Proceed cautiously through the next corridor, utilizing corners and crates for cover.
- Path B (Aggressive Approach - Not Recommended for Recruitment):
- Engage the initial guards directly. Be aware that this will likely trigger an alert and draw more enemies.
- Utilize your M1911A1 for quick eliminations.
- Collect any dropped items, such as Ammo (M1911A1) or Grenades.
Navigating the Main Complex
The core of this mission involves navigating a multi-level complex. Pay close attention to enemy patrol patterns and use your radar effectively.
- Upper Levels:
- Access the upper levels via stairwells or ladders, often found at the ends of corridors.
- These areas frequently house snipers or guards with wider fields of vision. Prioritize tranquilizing them from a distance using your Mk. 22.
- Look for Cardboard Boxes on these levels. They are excellent for hiding and ambushing patrols.
- You may find a Suppressor (M1911A1) in a locker on the second floor, which is invaluable for silent takedowns.
- Lower Levels & Basements:
- The lower levels often contain tighter corridors and more concentrated patrols.
- Use CQC (Close Quarters Combat) to silently neutralize enemies. Grab and interrogate them for intel on item locations or enemy positions.
- A Medical Kit can often be found in a small medical bay or storage room in the basement area.
- Be wary of tripwires or pressure plates that may trigger alarms. Use your thermal goggles (if acquired) to spot them.
Locating FOX Operatives
FOX operatives are typically distinguished by their unique uniforms or advanced weaponry. They are more resilient and alert than standard guards.
- First Operative: Often found patrolling a central courtyard or a large warehouse area. Use the environment to your advantage:
- Hide in tall grass or behind large containers.
- Wait for them to turn their back, then approach for a CQC takedown or a headshot with your tranquilizer.
- If you wish to recruit them, ensure they are tranquilized and then use the "Recruit" option.
- Second Operative: Usually positioned in a control room or a heavily guarded office.
- Consider using a diversion, such as throwing an empty magazine, to draw away nearby guards.
- Access the room through a less obvious entrance, like a window or a vent.
- A Chaff Grenade can temporarily disable electronic devices and disrupt enemy communications, giving you an opening.
Extraction
Once all FOX operatives are neutralized (or recruited), proceed to the designated extraction point. This is typically marked on your map.
- The path to extraction may be guarded by newly spawned enemies. Remain vigilant.
- If you have recruited operatives, ensure they are safely transported to the extraction zone.
- Confirm all objectives are complete before calling for extraction.
Tips for Success
- Recruitment Focus: For optimal team building, prioritize non-lethal takedowns on FOX operatives and any high-skilled enemy soldiers you encounter.
- Resource Management: Conserve your specialized ammo and healing items. Use your basic tranquilizer rounds for most standard enemies.
- Map Awareness: Constantly check your radar and map for enemy positions and objective markers.
- CQC Mastery: Practice your CQC techniques. They are essential for silent takedowns and interrogations.
- Environmental Advantage: Use cover, shadows, and distractions to your benefit.
