Master Metal Gear Solid's stealth mechanics: line of sight, noise, Alert Mode, and Caution Mode for successful infiltration.

·Multi-source verified (48/48)

Stealth is the core of Metal Gear Solid. Enemies have a cone of vision, represented by their patrol patterns. Stay out of their line of sight, use cover (walls, crates), and move silently. When an enemy spots you, the game enters Alert Mode. The radar will turn red, and enemies will actively hunt you. You have a limited time to hide and break line of sight before they find you. If you successfully hide, the game enters Caution Mode, where enemies are still on high alert but not actively searching for you. After a period, they will return to normal patrol. Causing too much noise, leaving footprints in snow, or being seen by security cameras will also trigger alerts. Learn to use the environment to your advantage, such as knocking on walls to distract guards.
