Walkthrough - Chapter 5: Confronting the Threat

Welcome, Wanderers, to Chapter 5: Confronting the Threat. This chapter marks a significant escalation in your journey through Dite, pushing your survival skills and combat prowess to their limits. Prepare for intense engagements and strategic resource management. We'll guide you through each step to ensure your success.

Preparation is Key

Before venturing into the heart of this chapter, ensure your gear is optimized. This is not the time to be caught off guard.

  • Weapons: Prioritize a reliable ranged weapon (e.g., Assault Rifle Type 2 or Bow with plenty of arrows) and a strong melee option (e.g., Machete or Iron Pipe). Ensure both are fully repaired and upgraded at the Crafting Bench.
  • Defensive Gear: Equip your best available armor (e.g., Heavy Duty Vest, Reinforced Helmet). Durability is crucial.
  • Consumables: Stock up on Clean Water (at least 5-7 bottles), Cooked Meat (5-7 portions), and several Medical Sprays. Don't forget a few Grenades or Molotov Cocktails for crowd control.
  • Base Camp Defenses: If you haven't already, reinforce your Base Camp's perimeter. You'll be away for a while, and the threat level is rising. Consider placing additional Barbed Wire Fences and upgrading existing Watchtowers.

Objective 1: Investigate the Anomaly

Your first task is to reach the designated anomaly zone, located approximately 800 meters northeast of your current position, marked on your iDroid as "Anomaly Sector Gamma."

  1. Route Planning: The most direct route takes you through a heavily dust-ridden area. Consider taking a slightly longer, but safer, path skirting the southern edge of the dust storm. This avoids unnecessary encounters with large groups of Wanderers.
  2. Resource Scavenging: Along the way, keep an eye out for resource nodes. You'll find Iron Ore and Wood Logs in the forested patches, and occasionally Copper Scraps near abandoned structures. These are vital for repairs and crafting later.
  3. Encounter: Approximately 300 meters from the anomaly, you'll encounter a small group of Bombers and Armored Wanderers. Prioritize the Bombers from a distance with your ranged weapon to prevent their explosive attacks. Use your melee weapon to dispatch the Armored Wanderers, aiming for headshots if possible.
  4. Arrival: Upon reaching the anomaly, a short cutscene will trigger, revealing a massive, pulsating crystal structure.

Objective 2: Secure the Perimeter

The crystal structure is attracting a continuous stream of Wanderers. Your objective is to secure the immediate area by eliminating all threats within the designated zone (marked by a red circle on your mini-map).

  • Initial Wave: The first wave consists primarily of standard Wanderers and a few Trackers. Use your preferred combat style, but try to conserve ammunition. Melee attacks are effective here.
  • Second Wave: This wave introduces Mortars, which will attempt to bombard your position from a distance. Prioritize these targets immediately with your ranged weapon. They are slow but deal significant damage. Simultaneously, you'll face more Armored Wanderers.
  • Third Wave (Mini-Boss): The final part of this objective involves a larger, more aggressive variant of the Armored Wanderer, often referred to as a "Brute."
    • Strategy: The Brute has heavily armored plating. Aim for its exposed back or head when it charges. Dodging its powerful ground slams is crucial. If you have any Grenades, now is the time to use them to stun it or break its armor.
    • Weak Points: After a successful dodge, the Brute will be momentarily vulnerable. Unleash a flurry of melee attacks or a concentrated burst of gunfire on its exposed back.
  • Completion: Once the Brute is defeated and all other Wanderers are cleared, the perimeter will be secured, and the next objective will activate.

Objective 3: Deploy the Sensor Array

With the area secured, you now need to deploy a sensor array to gather data on the crystal. The deployment point is directly adjacent to the crystal structure.

  1. Accessing the Deployment Point: Approach the glowing marker near the crystal. Interact with it to begin the deployment process.
  2. Defensive Stand: Deploying the sensor array takes approximately 90 seconds, during which you will be under constant assault. This is a classic "hold the line" scenario.
    • Barricades: Before initiating deployment, quickly place any portable Barricades or Sandbags you have in your inventory around the deployment point to create choke points.
    • Turrets: If you have crafted any Automated Turrets, deploy them strategically to cover flanks or the main approach routes.
    • Enemy Types: Expect a mix of standard Wanderers, Trackers, and occasional Bombers. The sheer number is the primary threat.
    • Prioritize: Focus fire on Bombers first to prevent area-of-effect damage. Use your melee weapon for standard Wanderers to conserve ammo.
    • Maintain Defenses: Keep an eye on your deployed defenses. If a barricade is destroyed, try to replace it if safe to do so.
  3. Successful Deployment: Once the timer reaches zero, the sensor array will be fully deployed, and the immediate threat will subside. A new objective will appear.

Objective 4: Analyze the Data

With the sensor array active, you need to access its data. The analysis terminal is located on a small, elevated platform overlooking the crystal.

  • Locating the Terminal: Follow the objective marker to the elevated platform. There might be a few lingering Wanderers; dispatch them quickly.
  • Interacting with the Terminal: Access the terminal. A short sequence will play, revealing critical information about the crystal's energy signature and its connection to the dust.
  • Chapter Conclusion: Upon successful data analysis, Chapter 5 will conclude. You'll receive a significant amount of Kuban Energy and a new blueprint for a powerful weapon or defensive structure.

Congratulations, you've survived Chapter 5! Return to your Base Camp, repair your gear, and prepare for the challenges ahead. The truth behind Dite is slowly unraveling.
