Endgame Activities & Challenges
Congratulations, Wanderer! You've braved the Dite, survived its horrors, and completed the main campaign. But the journey is far from over. Metal Gear Survive offers a robust suite of endgame activities designed to test your skills, gear, and strategic prowess. This section will guide you through maximizing your potential, acquiring the best equipment, and conquering the toughest challenges the Dite has to offer.
Co-op Expeditions: Hard & Extreme Difficulty
The bread and butter of endgame progression. Hard and Extreme difficulty Co-op Expeditions are where you'll earn the rarest materials, Kuban Energy, and blueprints. Success hinges on a well-coordinated team, optimized builds, and a deep understanding of enemy patterns.
Preparation is Key:
- Gear Score: Aim for a Gear Score of at least 1200 for Hard and 1500+ for Extreme. This isn't just a number; it reflects your overall combat readiness.
- Weapon & Armor Upgrades: Prioritize upgrading your primary weapons (e.g., AM MRS-4R, MGL-140) and armor sets (e.g., Wanderer's Armor, Tactical Vest) to +9 or higher. Use High-Grade Weapon Parts and High-Grade Armor Parts, found in Hard Expeditions or salvaged from high-tier gear.
- Gadget Loadout: Essential gadgets include:
- Fences (Heavy): Crucial for funneling enemies and protecting the Wormhole Digger.
- Barricades (Heavy): Provide robust cover and choke points.
- Mortar Turrets: Excellent for area denial and dealing with large groups of Wanderers.
- Shotgun Turrets: Effective against individual, tougher enemies.
- Supply Caches: Replenish ammo and gadgets during prolonged engagements.
- Skill Tree Optimization: Max out skills relevant to your playstyle. For example, if you prefer heavy weapons, invest in Heavy Weapon Proficiency. Support focus on Gadget Efficiency and Healing Boost.
Strategy for Success:
- Team Composition: A balanced team often includes a mix of damage dealers, support (gadget placement, healing), and crowd control.
- Early Game Setup: In the initial waves, focus on quickly establishing a perimeter around the Wormhole Digger. Place Heavy Fences to create chokepoints and position Mortar Turrets to cover wide areas.
- Resource Management: Don't waste Kuban Energy on unnecessary gadget placements. Save your more powerful gadgets for later waves when enemy density and strength increase.
- Target Prioritization:
- Bombers: Always prioritize these; their explosions can destroy multiple gadgets and damage the Digger.
- Trackers: Their ranged attacks can be annoying and chip away at the Digger's health.
- Mortars: High threat, deal with them quickly to prevent area damage.
- Armored Wanderers: Use piercing weapons or explosives.
- Communication: Use the in-game chat or voice comms to call out threats, request assistance, and coordinate gadget placement.
- Emergency Repairs: Always have a player designated for repairing damaged fences and turrets using Repair Kits.
Daily & Weekly Missions
These missions refresh regularly and offer excellent rewards, including rare materials, Kuban Energy, and sometimes even unique gear blueprints. They often involve specific objectives within Co-op Expeditions or the single-player Dite exploration.
- Check the Mission Board: Access the mission board at your Base Camp to see the current daily and weekly objectives.
- Prioritize High-Value Rewards: Some missions offer significantly better rewards than others. Prioritize those that grant High-Grade Weapon/Armor Parts or large amounts of Kuban.
- Combine Objectives: Often, you can complete multiple missions simultaneously by playing a specific Co-op Expedition. For example, a mission to "Defeat 50 Trackers" might align with a "Complete Hard Expedition: Dust" objective.
Exploration & Material Farming in the Dite
Even after completing the story, the Dite holds secrets and valuable resources. High-level areas, particularly those unlocked later in the campaign, contain rarer materials essential for crafting and upgrading.
Key Farming Locations:
- Dusty Crevasse (Extreme): Located in the far west of the Dite. This area is teeming with high-level Wanderers and offers a chance to find Rare Earth Metals and Advanced Circuit Boards. Be prepared for intense combat.
- Inferno Gorge (Extreme): Found in the volcanic region. This area is rich in Volcanic Ash and Obsidian Shards, crucial for crafting high-tier explosives and heat-resistant gear.
- Forgotten Sanctuary: A hidden area accessible after completing certain side quests. Contains unique resources like Ancient Relics and Crystal Shards, used for crafting experimental weapons and gadgets.
Farming Strategy:
- Resource Detector: Equip the Advanced Resource Detector gadget to highlight rare materials on your map.
- Stealth & Evasion: In high-threat areas, sometimes it's better to bypass large groups of Wanderers to reach resource nodes quickly. Use the Cardboard Box or Stealth Camo if available.
- Portable Wormhole: Always carry a Portable Wormhole to quickly extract valuable loot back to Base Camp, especially if your inventory is full.
- Salvage Everything: Don't discard unwanted high-tier gear. Salvage it at the workbench for valuable upgrade materials.
Base Camp Development
Your Base Camp continues to be a vital hub. Upgrading facilities unlocks new crafting recipes, increases resource production, and improves your overall efficiency.
Key Upgrades:
- Kuban Collector: Upgrade to max level to passively generate more Kuban Energy, essential for all endgame activities.
- Water Collector: Higher levels yield more clean water, reducing the need for scavenging.
- Food Production (Farm/Ranch): Maximize these to ensure a steady supply of food, preventing hunger debuffs during expeditions.
- Medical Bay: Upgrading this facility improves healing item effectiveness and unlocks advanced medical supplies.
- Weapon & Armor Workbench: Max level workbenches allow for the highest tier of crafting and upgrading.
The "S" Rank Challenge
For the ultimate test of skill, aim for "S" ranks on all Hard and Extreme Co-op Expeditions. Achieving an "S" rank requires near-perfect execution, minimal damage to the Wormhole Digger, and efficient enemy elimination. This often unlocks exclusive emblems and cosmetic items, showcasing your mastery of the Dite.
- Review Performance: After each expedition, analyze your score breakdown. Identify areas for improvement, such as Digger health, enemy kill count, and gadget usage.
- Practice & Refine: Don't be discouraged by initial failures. Learn from each run, adjust your strategy, and refine your team's coordination.
By engaging with these endgame activities, you'll not only continue to grow your character's power but also uncover the deepest challenges and rewards Metal Gear Survive has to offer. Good luck, Wanderer!
