Event Guides
Welcome to the Event Guides section, your comprehensive resource for conquering the most challenging and rewarding limited-time missions in Metal Gear Survive. These events often provide exclusive gear, rare materials, and substantial Kuban energy, making them crucial for advanced base development and character progression. This guide will break down common event types and provide actionable strategies to maximize your rewards.
Weekly Supply Run: Salvage Operation Alpha
The Weekly Supply Run is a recurring event focused on resource gathering and defending extraction points. "Salvage Operation Alpha" is a common variant that tasks players with securing specific material caches within a time limit while fending off increasingly aggressive Wanderers.
Phase 1: Initial Reconnaissance and Resource Acquisition
- Objective: Locate and secure three Material Caches (A, B, C) marked on your map.
- Recommended Gear:
- Weapon: Machete (for quick melee takedowns), Bow (for silent long-range eliminations).
- Gadget: Fences (for temporary crowd control), Watchtower (for early warning).
- Consumables: Rations (for stamina), Water Bottle (for hydration), Painkillers (for emergencies).
- Strategy:
- Upon deployment, immediately head towards Material Cache A. Avoid direct confrontation with large groups of Wanderers unless necessary.
- Use the Bow to silently eliminate isolated Wanderers guarding the cache. If a group detects you, deploy a single Fence to funnel them, then use the Machete for efficient takedowns.
- Once Cache A is secured, quickly move to Cache B, then C. Prioritize speed over eliminating every Wanderer. The timer is your primary enemy in this phase.
- Collect all materials from each cache. These often include Iron Scrap, Copper Wire, and occasionally Gunpowder.
Phase 2: Extraction Point Defense
- Objective: Defend the designated Extraction Point for 5 minutes against waves of Wanderers.
- Recommended Gear:
- Weapon: Shotgun (for close-quarters crowd control), Assault Rifle (for sustained damage).
- Gadget: Barricades (essential for choke points), Automated Turrets (for passive defense), Mortar (for area denial).
- Consumables: First Aid Spray (for healing), Grenades (for clearing large groups).
- Strategy:
- As soon as all caches are secured, a new waypoint will appear marking the Extraction Point. Rush to this location.
- Deployment: Immediately begin constructing defenses. Place Barricades at key entry points, creating narrow corridors. Position Automated Turrets behind these barricades to provide covering fire.
- Choke Points: The Extraction Point often has 2-3 primary approach routes. Focus your strongest defenses on these choke points.
- Mortar Placement: If you have a Mortar, place it on high ground overlooking the main approach. Use it to soften up large waves of Wanderers before they reach your barricades.
- Wave Management:
- Early Waves: Focus on maintaining your barricades and eliminating standard Wanderers.
- Mid Waves: Be prepared for tougher variants like Bombers or Armored Wanderers. Use your Shotgun or Assault Rifle to quickly dispatch them.
- Final Wave: This wave often includes a Heavy Wanderer or multiple elite units. Deploy Grenades strategically and focus fire on the most dangerous threats.
- Resource Management: Keep an eye on your gadget durability. Repair Barricades and Turrets as needed using your collected materials.
- Teamwork (Co-op): In co-op, assign roles: one player on Mortar duty, one on barricade repair, and two on active defense. Coordinate your gadget placements for maximum effectiveness.
Daily Challenge: "Dust Devil's Gauntlet"
The "Dust Devil's Gauntlet" is a daily challenge focused on combat proficiency and survival against increasingly difficult waves of Wanderers in a confined arena. Success in this event often yields rare crafting components like Advanced Circuits and Kuban Crystal Shards.
Arena Layout and Initial Setup
- Objective: Survive 10 waves of Wanderers.
- Arena: Typically a circular or rectangular area with limited cover and a few pre-placed defensive structures (e.g., broken walls, overturned vehicles).
- Recommended Gear:
- Weapon: SMG (for high fire rate against numerous foes), Sniper Rifle (for precision against special Wanderers).
- Gadget: Decoy (to draw aggro), Supply Box (for ammo replenishment), Spike Traps (for area denial).
- Consumables: Strong Painkillers, Stamina Boosters, Repair Kits.
- Strategy:
- Perimeter Defense: Before the first wave, place Spike Traps at common Wanderer spawn points or choke points around the arena. These will damage and slow down initial waves.
- Supply Box: Place your Supply Box in a relatively safe, central location where you can easily access it for ammo and gadget replenishment between waves.
- Cover Utilization: Identify the most defensible positions within the arena. Use broken walls or overturned vehicles for cover from ranged attacks.
Wave Progression and Tactics
Each wave introduces a greater number and variety of Wanderers. Adapt your tactics accordingly.
- Waves 1-3 (Standard Wanderers):
- Focus on headshots with your SMG to conserve ammo.
- Use melee attacks for isolated Wanderers to save bullets.
- Refresh Spike Traps if they break.
- Waves 4-6 (Introduces Bombers and Trackers):
- Prioritize Bombers: shoot their glowing sacs to detonate them at a distance.
- Trackers are fast; use your SMG to suppress them before they close the distance.
- Deploy Decoys to distract large groups, especially when reloading or repairing.
- Waves 7-8 (Introduces Armored Wanderers and Mortar Wanderers):
- Armored Wanderers require sustained fire or headshots to penetrate their armor. Use your Sniper Rifle if you have one.
- Identify and eliminate Mortar Wanderers first. Their indirect fire can quickly deplete your health and destroy your gadgets. Use the Sniper Rifle for quick, precise takedowns.
- Keep moving to avoid Mortar fire.
- Waves 9-10 (Elite Wanderers and Heavy Wanderers):
- These waves will feature multiple Heavy Wanderers and potentially unique elite variants.
- Focus fire on one Heavy Wanderer at a time. Aim for their weak points (often the head or glowing areas).
- Use Stamina Boosters to maintain mobility and evade charging attacks.
- Don't be afraid to use all your remaining Grenades or special weapon abilities.
- In co-op, coordinate target priority and focus fire. One player can draw aggro with a Decoy while others deal damage.
