Enemy Weaknesses & Tactics

Navigating Outer Heaven requires understanding the strengths and weaknesses of its diverse enemy forces. Each type of guard and enemy presents a unique challenge, and knowing how to counter them will sificantly improve your survival rate. Solid Snake's arsenal and stealth abilities are your primary tools for dealing with these threats.

Basic Guards: These are your most common adversaries. They patrol set routes and have a limited field of vision. Their primary weakness is their predictable patrol patterns. You can easily avoid them by observing their movements and timing your own. If detected, they will sound an alarm, summoning reinforcements. A quick punch or kick can neutralize them silently if you can get behind them undetected.

Shotgunners: As mentioned in the boss strategies, Shotgunners are heavily armored and wield powerful shotguns. Their patrols are often confined to smaller areas. While their armor makes them resistant to basic attacks, they are vulnerable to explosives like grenades or well-aimed shots from the rifle. The most effective tactic is to use cover and wait for an opening, or to use a grenade to stun them before closing in.

Guard Dogs: These canine units are fast and can detect you from a distance. They are particularly sensitive to sound. Throwing a ration can distract them, allowing you to slip past. Their speed makes them difficult to hit with direct attacks, but they can be neutralized with a well-timed shot from the rifle or by using the tranquilizer (if available in your version).

Turrets: These stationary defenses are often placed in strategic locations to cover key pathways. They have a wide firing arc and can be deadly. Their weakness is their fixed position. You can often bypass them by using the environment for cover or by disabling them with explosives. Some turrets can be temporarily deactivated by shooting their power source.

Metal Gear: The ultimate mechanical threat. Its primary weakness is its cockpit, which is exposed during certain attack phases. Exploiting this requires precise timing and the use of the rocket launcher. Dodging its laser and missile attacks is paramount to surviving this encounter.
