Metal Gear is not a run-and-gun game. Every bullet, every ration, and every C4 charge is precious. Effective resource management is paramount for survival.

- Conserve Ammo: Use your Handgun for single, isolated guards. Only use the Submachine Gun for groups or when direct combat is unavoidable. Save Grenades and Rockets for bosses and critical objectives.
- Ration Usage: Don't use a Ration unless your health is critically low. Try to clear a screen or reach a safe spot before consuming one. Remember you can only carry a limited number.
- C4 Placement: C4 is extremely limited. Only use it on designated targets (like Metal Gear) or on walls that you know lead to essential items or progression. Don't waste it on random walls.
- Item Prioritization: When your inventory is full, decide which items are most critical for your current objective. Do you need more Rations, or is that extra Grenade launcher ammo more important for an upcoming boss?
- Backtracking for Items: If you're low on a crucial resource, consider backtracking to previously cleared areas where you might have missed an item or where enemies might have respawned with drops.
A well-managed inventory is often the difference between success and failure in Outer Heaven.
