How to Beat The Obsidian Dragon

The Obsidian Dragon is one of MetaMorph's most formidable bosses, a colossal beast of molten rock and shadow residing in the heart of the Obsidian Dominion. Defeating it requires a combination of strategic positioning, understanding its attack patterns, and exploiting its elemental weaknesses. This guide provides a detailed strategy for victory.

The Obsidian Dragon is a multi-phase encounter. Its primary attacks involve fiery breath, sweeping tail attacks, and summoning lesser fire elementals. The arena itself is a hazard, with pools of lava that can inflict damage. Your goal is to chip away at its health while avoiding devastating blows and environmental dangers.

Phase 1: The Molten Fury

The dragon begins by unleashing torrents of fire and performing wide, sweeping tail attacks. Stay mobile and use your dash ability to evade. When it rears up to breathe fire, position yourself behind one of the larger obsidian pillars for cover. Its weak points in this phase are its legs.

  • Attack Patterns: Fire Breath (cone AoE), Tail Sweep (wide arc), Ground Slam (AoE shockwave).
  • Weaknesses: Legs, vulnerable after a Ground Slam.
  • Strategy: Focus on dodging and attacking its legs. Use water or ice-based MetaMorph forms if available, as they are effective against fire.

Phase 2: The Shadow's Embrace

As its health depletes, the dragon will begin to utilize shadow-based attacks, cloaking itself in darkness and summoning Shadow Imps. The arena may also become partially obscured. During this phase, the dragon's weak point shifts to its wings.

  • Attack Patterns: Shadow Breath (lingering dark pools), Shadow Dash (quick, unpredictable movement), Summon Imps.
  • Weaknesses: Wings, exposed after a Shadow Dash.
  • Strategy: Prioritize clearing the Shadow Imps quickly. Use light or holy-based MetaMorph forms if you have them. Keep an eye on the dragon's shadow to predict its movements.

Phase 3: The Obsidian Heart

In its final phase, the dragon becomes enraged. It combines its fire and shadow attacks, creating devastating combinations. Its weak point is now its exposed chest cavity, where its 'Obsidian Heart' glows.

  • Attack Patterns: Combined Fire and Shadow Breath, Meteor Shower (AoE raining projectiles), Desperate Roar (stun effect).
  • Weaknesses: Obsidian Heart, exposed after a Meteor Shower or Desperate Roar.
  • Strategy: This is a DPS race. Dodge relentlessly and unleash your most powerful attacks on the Obsidian Heart when it's exposed. Healing and defensive buffs are crucial here.
