Welcome to The Shifting Sands, a pivotal area in Act 1 of MetaMorph. This region tests your early combat prowess and introduces key mechanics. Navigate treacherous terrain, defeat the Sand Lurkers, and uncover the secrets of the ancient oasis. Mastering this zone is crucial for progressing through The Awakening.
Your journey through The Shifting Sands begins after you've dealt with the initial threats in the Whispering Deserts. The primary objective here is to locate and activate the Sunstone Beacon, which will clear a path further into the desert. Be prepared for ambushes from Sand Lurkers and the occasional Sand Wyrm. These creatures are vulnerable to piercing damage, so equip your best daggers or spears if you have them. The terrain itself is a hazard, with quicksand pits that can trap unwary adventurers. Always keep an eye on your minimap and listen for auditory cues indicating danger.
Key objectives in The Shifting Sands include:
- Defeating the Sand Lurker pack guarding the entrance to the oasis.
- Finding the three scattered Sunstone Shards to power the beacon.
- Surviving the Sand Wyrm encounter that occurs as you attempt to activate the beacon.
The Sunstone Shards are often hidden in small alcoves or guarded by elite Sand Lurkers. One shard is typically found near a cluster of petrified trees, another within a partially collapsed ruin, and the last near a small, stagnant pool of water. The Sand Wyrm is a formidable foe. Its primary attack is a devastating burrowing strike. To counter this, stay mobile and use the scattered rock formations for cover. When it surfaces, its weak point is its exposed maw. Focus your attacks there to stagger it and deal sificant damage. Successfully activating the Sunstone Beacon will not only open the path forward but also grant you a sificant experience boost and a rare crafting material, the 'Desert Bloom Petal'.
