Metroid Dread offers a robust combat system that rewards players for mastering its intricacies. Beyond basic beam attacks and missile launches, Samus can execute a variety of advanced techniques and combos to overcome even the most formidable foes. The Melee Counter is a cornerstone of this advanced combat. Timing this perfectly as an enemy attacks will stun them, opening them up for a devastating counter-attack or a follow-up combo. Practicing the timing of the Melee Counter against various enemy types is essential for survival and efficient combat.
The Speed Booster, once acquired, opens up a new dimension of offensive capabilities. When fully charged, a Speed Booster dash can be initiated. From this dash, Samus can perform a "Shine Spark," a powerful burst of energy that can be directed upwards or horizontally. This is not only useful for traversal but also for dealing sificant damage to enemies and bosses. Combining a Speed Booster dash with a well-timed jump and then activating the Shine Spark can create devastating aerial assaults. Furthermore, the Storm Missile, acquired in Ferenia, allows Samus to lock onto multiple targets simultaneously and unleash a barrage of missiles.
