Omega Metroid

The final confrontation awaits! After the dramatic escape from the exploding BSL station, Samus finds herself face-to-face with the colossal Omega Metroid. This is the ultimate test of your skills and mastery of Samus's abilities.

Preparation

Before initiating the final sequence, ensure you have collected as many Energy Tanks and Missile Expansions as possible. While your abilities are limited in this fight, having a full health bar and ample missiles will provide a crucial buffer. There's no turning back once the fight begins, so take a moment to mentally prepare.

The Battle Begins

The Omega Metroid is an enormous, slow-moving creature that will dominate the screen. Your primary objective is to survive its attacks and wait for an opportunity.

Phase 1: Evasion and Opening

The Omega Metroid will primarily attack by:
  • Swiping its claws: These are wide, sweeping attacks that cover a large portion of the ground. You must jump or use the Space Jump to clear these.
  • Spitting projectiles: The Metroid will occasionally spit a slow-moving, green projectile. These are easily dodged by moving left or right.
During this phase, you cannot directly damage the Omega Metroid. Your goal is to stay alive and observe its patterns. The key is to remain mobile. Use the Space Jump and Wall Jump (if necessary) to avoid its claw attacks. The Omega Metroid will slowly advance towards you from the right side of the screen.

Phase 2: The Counterattack

After a period of evasion, a critical event will occur: the SA-X will appear! The SA-X, in its Ice Beam form, will engage the Omega Metroid, firing its powerful beam. This is your cue to act. 1. **Observe the SA-X:** The SA-X will fire several Ice Beam shots at the Omega Metroid. These shots will freeze the Omega Metroid temporarily, but it will quickly break free. 2. **The SA-X's Sacrifice:** In a desperate move, the SA-X will charge a powerful Ice Beam shot. The Omega Metroid will retaliate, striking down the SA-X. As the SA-X is destroyed, it will release the Ice Beam ability. 3. **Absorb the Ice Beam:** Immediately move towards the fading remains of the SA-X to absorb the Ice Beam. This is your only chance to regain this crucial ability, which is essential for defeating the Omega Metroid.

Phase 3: Exploit the Weakness

With the Ice Beam now in your arsenal, the tide of battle turns. The Omega Metroid's weakness to ice is paramount. 1. **Target the Head:** The Omega Metroid's head is its only vulnerable point. 2. **Fire Ice Beam:** Continuously fire your Ice Beam at its head. Each shot will deal significant damage and briefly stun the creature. 3. **Missile Barrage:** While the Omega Metroid is stunned or recoiling from an Ice Beam hit, unleash a volley of Missiles. The combination of Ice Beam and Missiles is devastating. 4. **Maintain Distance:** The Omega Metroid will still attempt its claw swipes and projectile attacks. Continue to use your Space Jump to avoid damage while keeping up your offensive. 5. **Repeat:** Keep firing Ice Beam shots and following up with Missiles until the Omega Metroid is defeated. It has a substantial health pool, so be persistent.

Victory!

Once the Omega Metroid is defeated, the BSL station will begin its final, catastrophic descent. Samus will automatically initiate her escape sequence, bringing an end to the terrifying events of Metroid Fusion. Congratulations, you have saved the galaxy once again!
