Missile Expansion Locations

Missile Expansions are crucial pickups in Metroid Fusion, each increasing Samus's maximum missile capacity by 5. With a total of 45 expansions scattered across the B.S.L. Research Station, finding them all will boost your missile count from an initial 10 to a formidable 235. This significant increase in firepower is essential for defeating powerful bosses, destroying reinforced barriers, and accessing new areas. Many expansions are cleverly hidden behind destructible blocks, in secret passages, or require specific abilities like the Morph Ball, Bomb, or various Beam upgrades to reach. Always be on the lookout for suspicious blocks, unusual environmental features, or areas that seem just out of reach.

Tips for Finding Missile Expansions:

  • Scan Everything: Use Samus's scan ability (select the Data option from the menu) to identify suspicious blocks or weak points in walls and floors.
  • Bomb Everything: When in Morph Ball form, dropping Bombs indiscriminately can often reveal hidden passages or breakable blocks.
  • Missile Everything: Similarly, firing Missiles at suspicious walls or ceilings can reveal hidden areas.
  • Power Bomb Everything: Once you acquire Power Bombs, revisit old areas. These powerful explosives can destroy entire sections of scenery, often revealing multiple hidden paths.
  • Speed Boost/Shinespark: Areas that require Speed Boosting through long corridors or Shinesparking up vertical shafts often hide expansions. Look for long, flat stretches of ground or high ceilings.
  • Check Corners and Ceilings: Many expansions are tucked away in small alcoves, behind false walls, or in the ceiling. Always look up!
  • Revisit with New Abilities: The Metroidvania genre thrives on backtracking. If you see an area you can't reach, make a mental note and return once you've acquired new abilities like the Space Jump, Gravity Suit, or Screw Attack.
  • Listen for Sounds: Sometimes, the sound of a breakable block will be subtly different when you shoot it, even if it doesn't immediately break.

Collecting all Missile Expansions is a challenging but rewarding endeavor that will significantly enhance your combat readiness for the final encounters. Happy hunting, Samus Aran!
