Sector 6 (NOC) - Night Area

Welcome to Sector 6, also known as the NOC (Night) Area. This sector is characterized by its dark, often unlit environments and unique nocturnal flora and fauna. Be prepared for enemies that thrive in low light and puzzles that utilize your suit's various abilities to illuminate your path.

Initial Entry and Navigation

  1. Upon entering Sector 6 from the Main Deck access point, you'll find yourself in a dimly lit corridor. Proceed right.
  2. You'll encounter several new enemies here, including the Fune, small, bat-like creatures that cling to ceilings, and the Serris larvae, which are much smaller and less aggressive than their adult counterpart but still pose a threat.
  3. Continue right until you reach a vertical shaft. Descend carefully, dealing with any Fune that get in your way.
  4. At the bottom of the shaft, head left. You'll enter a larger chamber with several platforms.

Power Bomb Acquisition

Your primary objective in this initial phase of Sector 6 is to acquire the Power Bomb upgrade. This powerful weapon will be crucial for clearing specific obstacles and defeating certain enemies later on.

  1. In the large chamber mentioned above, look for a section of the floor that appears cracked or discolored. This is your first clue.
  2. To activate the hidden path, you'll need to utilize your Charge Beam. Charge your beam fully and fire it at the cracked floor section. This will reveal a hidden passage leading downwards.
  3. Descend through the newly opened passage. You'll find yourself in a small, isolated room.
  4. The Power Bomb Tank is located directly in the center of this room. Collect it to gain the ability to deploy Power Bombs.

Exploring the Lower Levels and Energy Tank

With the Power Bomb in hand, you can now access new areas and collect valuable upgrades.

  1. After acquiring the Power Bomb, return to the large chamber above.
  2. Head right from the Power Bomb chamber. You'll encounter a series of blocks that can only be destroyed by a Power Bomb.
  3. Deploy a Power Bomb (select it from your inventory and press the fire button) to clear the path. Be mindful of your surroundings, as Power Bombs have a wide blast radius and can damage Samus if she's too close.
  4. Proceed through the newly opened path. You'll find yourself in a long, horizontal corridor.
  5. Midway through this corridor, look for a small alcove in the ceiling. Use your Space Jump (or a well-timed wall jump if you haven't acquired Space Jump yet) to reach it.
  6. Inside this alcove, you'll discover an Energy Tank. This will increase your maximum health, which is always a welcome boost.

Navigating the Darkened Passages

Many areas in Sector 6 are intentionally dark, requiring you to use your suit's abilities to see. The Varia Suit, if you have it, will help mitigate some environmental damage, but the primary challenge here is visibility.

  • Thermal Visor (if acquired): If you have the Thermal Visor, activate it in dark areas. It will highlight enemies and interactive elements, making navigation much easier.
  • Charge Beam as a Light Source: In the absence of a Thermal Visor, a fully charged beam shot will briefly illuminate the immediate area. Use this to scout ahead and identify threats or pathways.
  • Missile Blocks: Keep an eye out for blocks that can be destroyed by missiles. These often hide secret passages or lead to item upgrades.

Encountering the X-Parasites

Sector 6 is heavily infested with various X-Parasites. Be particularly cautious of the following:

  • Core-X: These are the standard X-Parasites that emerge from defeated enemies. Absorb them immediately to restore health and missiles.
  • Large Core-X: Occasionally, a larger, more resilient Core-X will appear. These take more hits to defeat but yield greater rewards.
  • Mimic X: Some X-Parasites will mimic environmental elements or even other creatures. Be wary of anything that seems out of place or moves unexpectedly.

Continue exploring Sector 6, utilizing your newfound Power Bombs and keen observation skills. The path forward often involves destroying specific blocks or finding hidden passages. Always check your map frequently to ensure you haven't missed any potential routes or item locations.
