Acquire the High Jump Boots
The High Jump Boots are an essential upgrade that will allow Samus to reach previously inaccessible areas. This section will guide you through the process of obtaining them.
Journey to the High Jump Boots
From the starting point of the game, your path to the High Jump Boots involves navigating a series of interconnected caverns and overcoming initial obstacles.
- Initial Descent: From the very first room where Samus lands, head left and descend into the shaft. Continue moving downwards, bypassing any side passages for now.
- First Metroid Encounter (Optional): You will eventually reach a large, open area. To your left, you'll find a chamber containing the first Metroid. While defeating it isn't strictly necessary to get the High Jump Boots, it's a good opportunity to practice combat and earn some energy/missile drops.
- Locating the Path: Regardless of whether you fought the Metroid, proceed to the right from the large open area. You'll encounter a vertical shaft.
- Ascending the Shaft: Climb this shaft, moving upwards. You'll need to make a few precise jumps to avoid falling back down.
- Reaching the Destination: At the top of this vertical shaft, you will find a small, enclosed room. This is where the High Jump Boots are located.
High Jump Boots Acquisition
Once you enter the room at the top of the shaft:
- Walk over to the item pedestal.
- Samus will automatically absorb the High Jump Boots.
With the High Jump Boots equipped, Samus can now jump significantly higher, opening up new exploration possibilities and allowing access to ledges and platforms that were previously out of reach. This upgrade is crucial for progressing further into SR388.
