Welcome to Agon Wastes, a desolate, sand-swept region that will test your mettle. This guide will help you navigate its treacherous terrain and overcome the challenges ahead.

Landing Site and Initial Exploration

  • Upon landing at the Landing Site, immediately scan the area. You'll find a save station nearby – always a good idea to save your progress.
  • Head north from the Landing Site into the Portal Site. Here, you'll encounter your first Ing enemies. Practice your combat skills and get used to their attack patterns.
  • Continue through the Portal Site to the Main Energy Controller. This large chamber is crucial for restoring power to the region.

Restoring Power to Agon Wastes

Your primary objective in Agon Wastes is to reactivate the power grid, which involves several steps:

  1. Accessing the Temple Access

    • From the Main Energy Controller, take the eastern exit to the Temple Access.
    • Navigate through the winding corridors, dealing with any Ing you encounter. Keep an eye out for destructible environmental elements that might hide pickups.

  2. Reaching the Agon Temple

    • The Temple Access leads directly into the majestic Agon Temple. This is a central hub for the region.
    • Inside the temple, you'll find a console that requires activation. Interact with it to initiate a sequence.

  3. Activating the Energy Transfer Module

    • After activating the console in Agon Temple, a new path will open, leading to the Energy Transfer Module.
    • This module is guarded, so be prepared for a fight. Once the enemies are dispatched, activate the module to restore partial power to the region. This will open up new areas.

Exploring New Areas and Item Acquisition

With partial power restored, you can now access previously locked sections of Agon Wastes.

  • Obtaining the Missile Expansion

    • Return to the Main Energy Controller. A previously locked door on the western side should now be accessible.
    • Proceed through this door to the Sand Processing area.
    • Navigate the Sand Processing plant, being mindful of environmental hazards. You'll find a Missile Expansion hidden behind a destructible wall (use your Missiles!).

  • Locating the Morph Ball Bomb

    • From Sand Processing, continue through to the Storage Cavern.
    • Here, you'll face a series of platforming challenges. Utilize your Morph Ball to navigate tight spaces.
    • At the end of the Storage Cavern, you will acquire the essential Morph Ball Bomb. This item is crucial for opening new paths and finding hidden secrets.

Further Progress and Dark World Access

The Morph Ball Bomb opens up many new possibilities:

  • Opening New Paths

    • With the Morph Ball Bomb, you can now destroy cracked blocks and activate bomb slots. Revisit earlier areas like the Portal Site and the Main Energy Controller to uncover hidden passages and items.
    • Specifically, use a Morph Ball Bomb in the Main Energy Controller to open a path to the lower levels.

  • Entering the Dark World

    • Your next major goal is to find a portal to the Dark World. After activating the lower levels in the Main Energy Controller, you'll find a path leading to the Dark Agon Temple Access.
    • Proceed through this access point. Be prepared for a significant shift in environment and enemy types.
    • At the end of the Dark Agon Temple Access, you will find a portal that transports you to the Dark Agon Wastes. This marks a new chapter in your adventure!
