This section will guide you through the core progression of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, ensuring you know exactly where to go, what to do, and which crucial upgrades to acquire. We'll break down each major objective, highlighting key items and strategies to keep your mission on track.
Norion: The Prologue & First Corruption
Your adventure begins on the Federation capital planet, Norion. This initial phase serves as a tutorial, introducing you to the game's controls and basic mechanics. Your primary objective here is to assist the Galactic Federation in repelling a Space Pirate attack and investigate the mysterious Phazon corruption.
- Initial Objective: Report to the Command Center. Follow your fellow bounty hunters, Rundas, Ghor, and Gandrayda, through the initial corridors.
- Acquisitions:
- Grapple Lasso: Obtained early on. Use it to swing across gaps and activate specific mechanisms. You'll use this extensively to navigate the damaged station.
- Missile Launcher: Essential for destroying reinforced doors and tougher enemies. You'll receive this after your first encounter with Space Pirates.
- Key Events:
- Generator Defense: You'll be tasked with reactivating three generators across the station. Each generator presents a mini-challenge, often involving combat or environmental puzzles.
- First Boss: The massive Mactopus will confront you as you attempt to reactivate the final generator. Focus on its glowing weak points and use your missiles strategically.
- Phazon Infusion: Following the Mactopus battle and the arrival of Dark Samus, you and the other bounty hunters will be infused with Phazon. This grants you the powerful Hypermode ability, a critical mechanic for the rest of the game.
- Exit Condition: After the Phazon infusion and a brief recovery, you'll be cleared to depart Norion and begin your investigation into the Phazon crisis.
Bryyo: The Ancient Homeworld
Your first destination after Norion is the ancient, jungle-covered planet of Bryyo. Here, you'll encounter the remnants of the Bryyo civilization and the hostile creatures that now inhabit it. Your main goal is to reactivate the planetary energy systems and locate a Leviathan Seed.
- Arrival & Initial Exploration: Land at the Landing Site. Your initial path will lead you through the overgrown ruins.
- Key Upgrades & Abilities:
- Charge Beam: Your standard beam weapon. Charge it for more powerful shots.
- Grapple Voltage: Found in the Gel War Room after defeating the Jolypolyp mini-boss. This allows you to transfer energy between conduits, powering doors and machinery.
- Ship Grapple: After restoring power to the Gel Refinery, you'll gain the ability to use your ship's grapple beam to move large objects and clear pathways. This is crucial for accessing new areas.
- Plasma Beam: Located in the Main Reactor after solving a series of puzzles involving the Grapple Voltage and Ship Grapple. This beam is essential for melting ice and dealing significant damage to certain enemies.
- Major Objectives:
- Restore Power to Bryyo: Utilize the Grapple Voltage to reactivate various power conduits and open new paths.
- Navigate the Gel Refinery: This area requires careful use of the Ship Grapple to manipulate large containers and progress.
- Defeat Rundas: Your former ally, corrupted by Phazon, will confront you in the Main Reactor. This boss fight tests your agility and Hypermode usage.
- Locate the Leviathan Seed: After defeating Rundas, you'll gain access to the Leviathan Seed. You'll need to plant a Federation bomb to destroy it.
- Exit Condition: With the Bryyo Leviathan Seed destroyed, you'll receive new orders to investigate the next corrupted planet.
Elysia: The Sky-High Sanctuary
Elysia is a network of floating platforms and advanced technology, home to the peaceful Chozo-like creatures, the Elysians. Your mission here involves restoring the defense systems and confronting another corrupted bounty hunter.
- Arrival & Initial Exploration: Land at the Landing Site on the main platform. You'll need to navigate the various sky-platforms.
- Key Upgrades & Abilities:
- Boost Ball: Found in the Skybridge area. This classic Samus ability allows for quick movement and access to half-pipe sections in Morph Ball form.
- Screw Attack: Acquired after restoring power to the Defense System Hub. This powerful ability allows you to destroy enemies and traverse large gaps by spinning through the air.
- Hyper Ball: Gained after defeating Ghor. This allows you to enter Hypermode while in Morph Ball form, enabling you to destroy Phazon-infused obstacles.
- Major Objectives:
- Restore Elysian Defense Systems: This involves a series of puzzles and combat encounters across multiple platforms, often requiring the Boost Ball to navigate.
- Access the Elysian Archives: You'll need to find data logs and activate terminals to progress.
- Defeat Ghor: Another corrupted bounty hunter, Ghor, will attack you in the Defense System Hub. His mechanical form requires precise aiming and strategic use of Hypermode.

- Exit Condition: With the Elysian Leviathan Seed neutralized, you'll be directed to your final planetary objective.

- Hazard Shield: Acquired after defeating Gandrayda. This upgrade protects Samus from extreme environmental hazards, such as corrosive liquids and intense heat.

Phaaze: The Phazon Core
The final confrontation takes place on Phaaze, the living planet of Phazon. This is a linear, intense gauntlet leading to the ultimate showdown with Dark Samus.
- Entry & Navigation: Your ship will automatically take you to Phaaze. The environment is entirely composed of Phazon, constantly draining your health unless you are in Hypermode.
