Walkthrough - Skytown
Welcome to Skytown, the technologically advanced floating city of the Bryyo system! This section will guide you through its intricate pathways, helping you locate crucial upgrades and progress the story.
Arrival and Initial Exploration
Upon landing your Gunship in the Landing Site, you'll immediately notice the unique architecture and the constant hum of machinery. Your primary objective here is to restore power to the various sections of Skytown and locate the remaining Energy Cells.
- From the Landing Site, proceed through the large door directly ahead into the Transit Hub.
- In the Transit Hub, you'll encounter your first Grenchler enemies. These creatures are vulnerable to charged shots. Clear them out and use your Scan Visor to identify the locked doors.
- Head through the eastern door into the Skybridge. Be cautious of the high winds and the occasional Aeromine.
- Cross the Skybridge to reach the Power Hub.
Restoring Power to the Power Hub
The Power Hub is currently offline, preventing access to many areas. You'll need to activate the main generator.
- Inside the Power Hub, scan the console near the inactive generator. It will indicate that you need to reroute power.
- Look for three power conduits around the room. Use your Grapple Lasso to pull the energy spheres into their respective conduits. This will require precise timing and aiming.
- Once all three conduits are active, the main generator will hum to life, restoring power to this section of Skytown.
- A new door will now be accessible on the upper level of the Power Hub. Use the platforms to reach it.
Obtaining the Grapple Voltage
Your next crucial upgrade is the Grapple Voltage, which will allow you to power up various mechanisms.
- Through the newly opened door in the Power Hub, you'll enter the Generator Access corridor.
- Follow the corridor, dealing with any defenses, until you reach the Maintenance Bay.
- In the Maintenance Bay, you'll face a series of automated defenses. Use your Boost Ball to navigate the narrow passages and avoid incoming fire.
- At the end of the Maintenance Bay, you'll find the Grapple Voltage upgrade. Collect it immediately.
- Strategy: The Grapple Voltage allows you to transfer energy from specific power conduits to inactive machinery. Look for glowing blue terminals.
Proceeding to the Research Facility
With the Grapple Voltage in hand, you can now access new areas.
- Return to the Power Hub. You'll notice an inactive lift. Use your Grapple Voltage on the nearby power terminal to activate it.
- Take the lift up to the next level, leading you to the Research Facility Entrance.
- The Research Facility Entrance is guarded by several automated turrets. Use your Power Beam to quickly dispatch them.
- Enter the Research Facility Main Hall. This area is expansive and contains several locked doors.
Locating the First Energy Cell
Your goal in the Research Facility is to find an Energy Cell.
- From the Research Facility Main Hall, head to the northern door, which leads to the Bio-Research Lab.
- Inside the Bio-Research Lab, you'll encounter new enemy types, including the Metroid Hatchers. Focus fire on their weak points.
- Navigate through the lab, using your Scan Visor to find clues. You'll eventually reach a chamber with a large containment unit.
- The Energy Cell is located within this containment unit. To access it, you'll need to activate two power conduits on opposite sides of the room using your Grapple Voltage.
- Once both conduits are active, the containment unit will open, allowing you to collect the Energy Cell (Skytown 1/3).
