How to Beat Hive Lord

The Hive Lord is the first major boss you'll encounter, typically found guarding the exit from the Aetheria outpost. This massive insectoid creature has several distinct phases. Phase 1: The Hive Lord will primarily attack with sweeping claw attacks and by spitting corrosive goo. Keep your distance and use charged Power Beam shots on its head. It will occasionally summon smaller Hive Drones; dispatch these quickly with uncharged shots to prevent being overwhelmed. Phase 2: Once its health is reduced by about a third, the Hive Lord will retreat into a defensive stance, exposing a glowing weak point on its back. This is your opportunity to unleash missiles. It will also start charging a powerful sonic scream; dodge this by jumping or strafing. Phase 3: In its final phase, the Hive Lord becomes more aggressive, combining all previous attacks. Its weak point on the back will be exposed more frequently but for shorter durations. Focus on dodging and landing charged shots or missiles on the exposed weak point. Reward: Missile Expansion.
