Region-Specific Collectibles

Achieving 100% completion in Metroid Prime Remastered requires meticulous exploration and often revisiting areas with new abilities. This section details the locations of crucial upgrades and lore entries, broken down by the major regions of Tallon IV. Remember to frequently use your Scan Visor; many hidden passages and item locations are revealed by scanning environmental elements or specific panels.

Tallon Overworld

The lush, initial region of Tallon Overworld holds several vital upgrades that will aid your early journey. Many of these are accessible relatively early, but some require specific beam weapons or the Morph Ball Bomb.

Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank 1 (Main Plaza): After acquiring the Morph Ball, roll into the small tunnel on the left side of the Main Plaza, near the waterfall. Follow the path to find the tank.
  • Energy Tank 2 (Root Cave): Once you have the Space Jump Boots, jump across the platforms in the Root Cave. The tank is on a high ledge, requiring precise jumping.

Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1 (Landing Site): Immediately upon landing, look for a small alcove above your ship. Use the Space Jump Boots to reach it.
  • Missile Expansion 2 (Waterfall Cave): In the Waterfall Cave, use a Morph Ball Bomb to destroy the weakened floor section. Drop down to find the expansion.
  • Missile Expansion 3 (Cargo Freight Lift to Deck Gamma): After activating the cargo lift, ride it up. The expansion is on a ledge accessible via a well-timed Space Jump during the lift's ascent.

Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1 (Biohazard Containment): Requires the Power Bomb. In the Biohazard Containment room, there's a weakened wall section (scan to identify). Use a Power Bomb to blast it open and reveal the expansion.

Chozo Ruins

The ancient Chozo Ruins are a labyrinth of puzzles and hidden passages. Many collectibles here are locked behind environmental challenges that demand specific beam types or Morph Ball techniques.

Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank 1 (Ruined Shrine): After defeating the Incinerator Drone, the tank is in plain sight within the Ruined Shrine chamber.
  • Energy Tank 2 (Watery Hall Access): In the Watery Hall Access, use the Morph Ball to navigate the underwater tunnel. The tank is at the end of this path.

Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1 (Main Plaza): In the Main Plaza of the Chozo Ruins, look for a series of platforms leading to a high ledge. Use the Space Jump Boots to reach it.
  • Missile Expansion 2 (Ruined Gallery): After acquiring the Morph Ball Bomb, destroy the weakened wall in the Ruined Gallery to reveal a hidden passage containing the expansion.
  • Missile Expansion 3 (Sun Tower): Climb to the top of the Sun Tower. The expansion is located on one of the upper platforms.
  • Missile Expansion 4 (Crossway): In the Crossway, activate the Morph Ball slot to rotate the room. This will reveal a new path leading to the expansion.

Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1 (Dynamo): In the Dynamo room, there's a Morph Ball tunnel hidden behind some destructible blocks. Use Morph Ball Bombs to clear the path and access the expansion.

Phendrana Drifts

The icy expanses of Phendrana Drifts conceal numerous upgrades, often requiring the Plasma Beam or Thermal Visor to access. Be prepared for environmental hazards and challenging platforming.

Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank 1 (Phendrana Shorelines): Near the Save Station in Phendrana Shorelines, look for a frozen waterfall. Use the Plasma Beam to melt the ice and reveal a hidden alcove with the tank.
  • Energy Tank 2 (Research Lab Aether): In Research Lab Aether, use the Thermal Visor to locate a hidden power conduit. Shoot it to open a secret door containing the tank.

Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1 (Ice Ruins West): In Ice Ruins West, use the Boost Ball to reach a high platform. The expansion is located there.
  • Missile Expansion 2 (Gravity Chamber): After acquiring the Gravity Suit, navigate the underwater section of the Gravity Chamber. The expansion is in a small alcove.
  • Missile Expansion 3 (Research Core): In the Research Core, there's a series of moving platforms. Time your jumps carefully to reach the expansion on a high ledge.

Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1 (Storage Cave): In the Storage Cave, use a Power Bomb to destroy the large rock formation blocking a Morph Ball tunnel. The expansion is inside.

Phazon Mines

The dangerous Phazon Mines are the source of the planet's corruption. Collectibles here are often guarded by tough enemies or require the X-Ray Visor to uncover hidden paths.

Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank 1 (Main Quarry): After acquiring the Power Bomb, use it to destroy the large Phazon rock in the Main Quarry. The tank is behind it.
  • Energy Tank 2 (Elite Research): In Elite Research, use the X-Ray Visor to find a hidden platform. Jump across to reach the tank.

Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1 (Fungal Hall Access): In the Fungal Hall Access, use the Power Bomb to clear the Phazon mushrooms. The expansion is behind them.
  • Missile Expansion 2 (Waste Disposal): In the Waste Disposal room, activate the Morph Ball slot to drain the toxic waste. Drop down to find the expansion.
  • Missile Expansion 3 (Mining Site A): In Mining Site A, use the Grapple Beam to swing across the gap to a hidden ledge containing the expansion.

Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1 (Phazon Processing Center): In the Phazon Processing Center, there's a weakened wall section (scan to identify). Use a Power Bomb to open it and access the expansion.

Impact Crater

The Impact Crater is the final area of the game, and while it doesn't contain many new collectibles, there are a few crucial ones to grab before the final confrontation.

Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank 1 (Crater Entry Point): Near the entrance to the Impact Crater, look for a hidden alcove accessible with the Space Jump Boots.

Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1 (Phazon Core): In the Phazon Core, after a certain boss encounter, a path will open up leading to this expansion.
