Missile Expansion Locations
Collecting Missile Expansions is crucial for increasing your missile capacity, allowing you to tackle tougher enemies and open more missile-locked doors. This section details the location and acquisition strategy for every Missile Expansion in Metroid Prime Remastered.
Tallon Overworld
- Landing Site:
- Location: Directly above your ship in the Landing Site.
- Strategy: Once you acquire the Morph Ball Bomb, return to the Landing Site. Look for a small tunnel entrance on the cliff face above your ship. Morph Ball into the tunnel and use a bomb to break through the weakened rock blocking your path. The Missile Expansion will be waiting at the end.
- Waterfall Cave:
- Location: Within the Waterfall Cave, accessible from the Root Cave.
- Strategy: After obtaining the Space Jump Boots, navigate to the Root Cave. Look for a series of platforms leading up towards an opening in the ceiling. Use your Space Jump to reach this opening, which leads to the Waterfall Cave. The Missile Expansion is on a ledge across the water. You'll need to use your Space Jump to reach it.
- Overgrown Cavern:
- Location: Hidden behind a destructible wall in the Overgrown Cavern.
- Strategy: Once you have the Thermal Visor, enter the Overgrown Cavern. Scan the walls for any anomalies. You'll find a section of the wall that appears weak under Thermal Visor. Use a Missile to destroy this section, revealing a hidden alcove with the Missile Expansion.
Chozo Ruins
- Main Plaza:
- Location: In a small alcove high above the Main Plaza.
- Strategy: After acquiring the Boost Ball, return to the Main Plaza. Locate the half-pipe structure. Use the Boost Ball to gain momentum and launch yourself into the high alcove on one side of the plaza. The Missile Expansion is inside.
- Ruined Gallery:
- Location: Behind a grate in the Ruined Gallery.
- Strategy: You'll need the Morph Ball Bomb for this. In the Ruined Gallery, look for a small grate on the floor that leads into a crawlspace. Morph Ball and drop into the crawlspace. Follow the path, using bombs to clear any obstacles, until you reach the Missile Expansion.
- Watery Hall Access:
- Location: In a hidden area within the Watery Hall Access.
- Strategy: With the Space Jump Boots, enter the Watery Hall Access. Look for a series of platforms and ledges that seem to lead nowhere. Use your Space Jump to carefully navigate these platforms, eventually reaching a higher, hidden area where the Missile Expansion resides.
Phendrana Drifts
- Phendrana Shorelines:
- Location: On an icy ledge in the Phendrana Shorelines.
- Strategy: Once you have the Plasma Beam, return to the Phendrana Shorelines. Look for an icy wall that can be melted. Use the Plasma Beam to melt the ice, revealing a path to a ledge with the Missile Expansion.
- Research Lab Aether:
- Location: Inside a glass containment unit in Research Lab Aether.
- Strategy: You'll need the Power Bomb for this. In Research Lab Aether, locate the large glass containment unit. Place a Power Bomb near it to shatter the glass, allowing you to collect the Missile Expansion.
Phazon Mines
- Main Quarry:
- Location: High above the Main Quarry, accessible via a series of platforms.
- Strategy: After acquiring the Grapple Beam, return to the Main Quarry. Look for grapple points that allow you to swing across the vast chasm. Carefully navigate the grapple points and platforms to reach a high ledge containing the Missile Expansion.
- Elite Research:
- Location: Behind a force field in Elite Research.
- Strategy: You'll need the Wave Beam for this. In Elite Research, locate the force field blocking access to a small room. Use the Wave Beam to disable the force field, then enter to claim the Missile Expansion.
