This section details every hidden upgrade, secret passage, and elusive item you'll need to achieve 100% completion. Prepare to backtrack, scan, and blast your way to ultimate power!

Energy Tanks

Expanding your maximum health is crucial for surviving the increasingly dangerous encounters on SR388. Each Energy Tank adds 100 units to your health bar. There are 10 full Energy Tanks scattered across the planet, plus 40 Energy Tank Parts (four parts combine to form one full tank).

Area 1 Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank (Full): After defeating the first Alpha Metroid, proceed right. You'll find this tank in a small alcove above the main path, accessible with a well-timed jump.
  • Energy Tank Part 1: In the large vertical shaft leading down from the initial landing zone. Look for a hidden passage on the left wall, revealed by a Missile or Power Bomb.
  • Energy Tank Part 2: Within the network of tunnels accessible after acquiring the Morph Ball. It's in a dead-end path to the far left of the first save station.

Area 2 Energy Tanks

  • Energy Tank (Full): Located in the upper-right section of Area 2, near the entrance to the large lava-filled chamber. You'll need the Spider Ball to reach a hidden path on the ceiling.
  • Energy Tank Part 1: After acquiring the Charge Beam, head to the room directly below the main elevator. There's a destructible block in the floor leading to a small chamber with this part.

Missile Expansions

Missiles are your primary offensive tool against tougher enemies and bosses. Each Missile Expansion increases your missile capacity by 5. There are 50 Missile Expansions to find, totaling a massive 250 extra missiles!

Area 1 Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1: In the very first room after landing, use your Beam to destroy the blocks on the ceiling to reveal a hidden path.
  • Missile Expansion 2: After activating the first Aeion ability, head left. There's a destructible wall on the upper level that hides this expansion.
  • Missile Expansion 3: In the large vertical shaft with the first Alpha Metroid. Look for a small alcove on the right wall, accessible by wall-jumping.

Area 2 Missile Expansions

  • Missile Expansion 1: In the room directly above the first save station in Area 2. Use a Power Bomb to destroy the floor and drop down to a hidden area.
  • Missile Expansion 2: After acquiring the Space Jump, return to the large open area with the lava. There's a series of difficult jumps to a platform on the far left, where this expansion awaits.
  • Missile Expansion 3: In the room where you fight the first Gamma Metroid. After the fight, look for a hidden passage behind a destructible wall on the right side of the arena.

Power Bomb Expansions

Power Bombs are devastating weapons, capable of clearing entire screens of enemies and destroying special blocks. Each Power Bomb Expansion increases your capacity by 1. There are 10 Power Bomb Expansions to discover.

Area 1 Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1: After obtaining the Morph Ball, return to the initial landing zone. There's a small Morph Ball tunnel on the far right, leading to this expansion.

Area 2 Power Bomb Expansions

  • Power Bomb Expansion 1: In the room directly below the elevator connecting Area 1 and Area 2. You'll need the Spider Ball to climb the left wall and find a hidden passage.
  • Power Bomb Expansion 2: After defeating the first Zeta Metroid, backtrack to the large vertical shaft in the center of Area 2. There's a Power Bomb block on the right wall, revealing a hidden chamber.

Aeion Tank Expansions

Aeion abilities are powerful tools that consume Aeion energy. Aeion Tank Expansions increase your maximum Aeion capacity, allowing for prolonged use of these vital skills. There are 10 Aeion Tank Expansions.

Area 1 Aeion Tank Expansions

  • Aeion Tank Expansion 1: In the room where you first encounter the Scan Pulse ability. After activating it, scan the area thoroughly to reveal a hidden block in the ceiling, leading to this expansion.

Area 2 Aeion Tank Expansions

  • Aeion Tank Expansion 1: In the room with the first lava-filled pit. Use the Spider Ball to traverse the ceiling to the far right, where a hidden passage contains this expansion.

Secret Passages & Hidden Rooms

SR388 is riddled with hidden pathways, often requiring specific abilities or keen observation to uncover. Always use your Scan Pulse frequently, and don't be afraid to shoot every suspicious block!

  • Area 1 - Early Missile Access: In the very first vertical shaft, before you even encounter your first Metroid, look for a series of destructible blocks on the left wall. A well-placed Missile will open a path to an early Missile Expansion.
  • Area 2 - Spider Ball Shortcut: In the large, multi-level room near the center of Area 2, there's a hidden Spider Ball track on the ceiling that bypasses a significant portion of the area, leading directly to a save station and an Energy Tank Part.
  • Area 3 - Power Bomb Maze: Deep within Area 3, after acquiring the Power Bomb, you'll find a series of seemingly solid walls. Use Power Bombs strategically to reveal a complex maze of tunnels containing multiple Missile Expansions and an Aeion Tank Expansion.

Remember, the map will highlight areas with uncollected items once you've activated a nearby map station. However, it won't show you *how* to get them. That's where your keen eye, Samus's full arsenal, and this guide come in!
