Kraid is a massive, reptilian Space Pirate general. His lair is located further to the right after acquiring the Varia Suit. To enter his chamber, you'll typically need to open a large, green blast door with Missiles. Once inside, Kraid will emerge from the lava.
Strategy:
- Phase 1: Kraid will periodically emerge from the lava, spitting projectiles and launching spikes from his stomach. The key is to shoot his open mouth with Missiles.
- Phase 2: As he takes damage, Kraid will emerge higher, revealing more of his body. He'll continue to spit projectiles. Jump onto the platforms that rise from the lava to get a better angle on his mouth. Continue firing Missiles into his mouth.
- Weakness: Kraid's only weak point is his open mouth.
- Recommended Ammo: You'll need a good supply of Missiles (around 20-30) to defeat him comfortably.
Dodge his projectiles and spikes, and prioritize hitting his mouth with Missiles whenever it's open. After enough hits, Kraid will be defeated, and the path forward will open.
