Location:
Tourian

Recommended Power-ups:
- All Suit Upgrades: Varia Suit, High Jump Boots, Morph Ball.
- All Weapon Upgrades: Long Beam, Ice Beam, Wave Beam, Screw Attack (optional but helpful).
- Missiles: A full stock (255) is highly recommended.
- Energy Tanks: All 8 for maximum survivability.
Phases & Attacks:
Mother Brain is stationary and protected by several defenses. Initially, she is guarded by Rinkas (flying rings) and a laser turret. Once these are destroyed, her glass casing breaks, exposing her brain. She will then fire powerful energy rings at Samus.
Strategy:
- Destroy Defenses: First, focus on destroying the Rinkas and the laser turret. Use your regular beam (Wave Beam is excellent here as it passes through walls) to quickly eliminate these threats. The Rinkas respawn, so prioritize the laser turret first.
- Expose Mother Brain: Once the defenses are down, Mother Brain's glass casing will shatter, exposing her brain.
- Attack Mother Brain: Now, unleash all your Missiles directly at Mother Brain's exposed brain. She will retaliate with powerful energy rings that travel across the screen. Dodge these by jumping or crouching. Continue to fire missiles relentlessly. It takes a large number of missiles (around 100-150) to defeat her.
- Escape: After Mother Brain is destroyed, a self-destruct sequence will initiate. You will have a limited time to escape Zebes. Do not engage any remaining enemies; simply run and jump towards your gunship.
While the original Mother Brain encounter demands rhythmic missile fire, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will likely evolve these stationary boss mechanics into immersive, first-person tactical battles.
While the original Mother Brain remains a stationary target, the biological supercomputer concept evolved into the mobile Aurora Unit 313 boss encountered in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
