Beyond scavenging canned goods, hunting and fishing provide sustainable sources of food. This 'side activity' is essential for long-term survival, especially if you're far from populated areas or want to conserve your scavenged supplies. Hunting requires a weapon (melee or firearm) and a 'Hunting Knife' or 'Machete' to field dress the animal.

- Deer: Common in forests, provides 'Raw Deer Meat' and 'Deer Hide'.
- Boar: Found in forests, more aggressive than deer, provides 'Raw Boar Meat' and 'Boar Hide'.
- Rabbit: Small, fast, provides 'Raw Rabbit Meat' and 'Rabbit Fur'.
- Wolf/Bear: Dangerous predators, but yield significant amounts of meat and valuable hides/furs. Only engage if well-armed.
All raw meat must be cooked on a 'Campfire' to prevent food poisoning. 'Hides' and 'Furs' can be used in crafting or sold to other players. Fishing requires a 'Fishing Rod' (craftable or found) and 'Bait' (worms, insects). Find a body of water, equip your rod, and cast your line. Fishing is a quieter activity than hunting and can yield various types of fish, which also need to be cooked. It's a great way to pass time and gather food while avoiding more dangerous areas.
