Armor Skills: The Heart of Your Build
Monster Hunter Wilds brings back many familiar armor skills while introducing a key change: weapons now have their own dedicated skills. This new system allows for greater customization, as players can mix and match gear without sacrificing build effectiveness. Armor pieces will continue to offer supportive or defensive skills.
Monster Hunter Wilds features a significant change to how skills are managed. Unlike previous titles where skills were primarily tied to armor, weapons now come with their own unique skills. This allows for greater flexibility in build creation, as players are no longer forced to use specific armor sets to gain desired weapon-related skills.
Armor pieces will continue to provide supportive or defensive skills, such as Speed Eating. Skills will remain on gear during upgrades, and additional skills can become available as gear is enhanced. Armor pieces also include Decoration slots, allowing players to add Jewels and further customize their builds.
An example of an armor set bonus is the Bale α Armor set, which grants the skill "Soul of the Dark Knight." Activating this skill enables the special action "The Blackest Night," which consumes the player's health to generate a powerful barrier.
This new system encourages experimentation, making it easier to switch weapons without compromising preferred builds.
