Quest Board & Quest Types

The Quest Board in Monster Hunter Wilds is your hub for undertaking various missions, managed by Alma. Quests are categorized into different types, each offering unique challenges and rewards. Understanding these quest types and how to access them is key to progressing through the game, raising your Hunter Rank, and acquiring valuable materials.

Optional Quests become available as you progress through the main story, which is closely tied to Assignments. You can unlock these quests by speaking with NPCs marked with a quest icon. Some Side Missions also lead to the availability of Optional Quests, which can be posted repeatedly without any cost. These quests can serve as a tool for increasing your Hunter Rank (HR), as certain quests require a specific HR to be posted. By completing Optional Quests, you can efficiently raise your rank while gathering valuable materials needed for crafting and upgrading equipment. To post an Optional Quest, interact with Alma who manages the quest board.

Upcoming quest types include:

  • Event Quests: Free downloadable quests offering special rewards like unique layered armor pieces and gestures.
  • Arena Quests: Quests focused on combat challenges.
  • Challenge Quests: Difficult quests designed to test your hunting prowess.
  • Free Challenge Quests: Similar to Challenge Quests but with specific conditions.

Title Update 1 will introduce new Arch-tempered monster types, such as the Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, which offer more difficult fights and reward new armor sets and weapons. You will also get the chance to fight Zoh Shia again in a high-rank quest and claim new armor for your hunter and palico. Mizutsune from Monster Hunter Rise will be making a return, and Lagiacrus from Monster Hunter 3 will be added later with Title Update 2.
