Armor forging is crucial in Monster Hunter Wilds for enhancing a hunter's defense, elemental resistances, and acquiring valuable skills. Hunters can visit the Smithy to craft new armor pieces or upgrade existing ones using materials obtained from various sources, including monster hunts and quest rewards. This process is key to surviving challenging encounters.

Armor Forging Process

Hunters can forge new armor sets or individual pieces at the Smithy. The availability of armor recipes expands as you progress through the main story, complete Assignments, and undertake Optional Quests. Each piece of armor contributes to your overall Defense, Elemental Resistances, and can provide specific Skills.

Materials for Armor Forging

Forging armor requires a range of materials. These can include:

  • Monster Parts: Such as Sharp Fang, Charred Oilbone, Comaqchi Shell, Monster Fluid, Sturdy Bone, and Frozen Icebone.
  • Ores: Like Dragonite Ore and Machalite Ore.
  • Plants and Fungi: Including Blue Mushroom, Herb, Sleep Herb, and Honey.
  • Special Items: Armor Sphere, used for upgrading armor.
  • Appraisal Items: An Ancient Orb - Armor is a Rarity 6 appraisal item that becomes a defensive decoration after appraisal.

For example, completing the Optional Quest "Buggin' in the Cliffs" (★2) can reward you with materials such as Comaqchi Shell, Monster Fluid, Sleep Herb, Frozen Icebone, Armor Sphere, Blue Mushroom, and Herb. Another quest, which involves slaying 6 Kranodath, can yield Sharp Fang, Dragonite Ore, Charred Oilbone, Armor Sphere, Blue Mushroom, Herb, Machalite Ore, Sturdy Bone, and Honey.

Armor Transcendence

Beyond initial forging and upgrading, Armor Transcendence offers a method for further enhancing armor, suggesting a late-game progression system for maximizing defensive capabilities.
