Item Crafting
Master the art of Item Crafting in Monster Hunter Wilds to create essential consumables, powerful tools, and vital equipment upgrades. Understanding crafting recipes and gathering the necessary materials is fundamental to your success, allowing you to prepare effectively for any hunt.
Item crafting is a cornerstone of the Monster Hunter experience, and Monster Hunter Wilds continues this tradition with a robust crafting system. Throughout your journey, you will gather a vast array of materials from monsters, plants, minerals, and insects. These materials are then used to craft new items or upgrade existing ones.
The primary location for crafting is typically your base camp, where you can access a crafting station. Interacting with this station will bring up a menu of all available crafting recipes. Recipes are unlocked as you gather new materials or discover them through exploration and questing. It's highly recommended to check your crafting menu regularly to see what new items you can create.
Key Crafting Categories:
- Consumables: This includes essential items like Potions (for healing), Antidotes (to cure poison), Energy Drinks (to restore stamina), and various traps (like Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps).
- Ammo & Coatings: For ranged weapon users, crafting specialized ammo and coatings for your Bowguns and Bows is crucial for maximizing damage and applying status effects.
- Tools: Items like Flash Pods, Sonic Pods, and other utility items can be crafted to aid in combat and exploration.
- Armor & Weapons: While major equipment crafting is done at the Smithy, some basic components or upgrades might be craftable through the general item crafting system.
Gathering Materials:
- Monster Parts: Carving from defeated monsters yields hides, claws, horns, and other vital components.
- Gathering Nodes: Mine ore deposits, harvest plants, and collect insects from the environment.
- Quests & Bounties: Completing quests and bounties often rewards you with specific crafting materials.
The Provisions Manager, often an NPC like Jack, can provide you with essential tools and sometimes even initial crafting recipes. As you progress, you'll unlock more complex recipes and gather rarer materials, allowing you to craft items that are vital for tackling the game's most challenging monsters. Always ensure you have a good stock of essential crafted items before embarking on a hunt.
