Weapon Master: Choosing Your Blade
Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a new system where weapons come with unique Equipment Skills, allowing for greater build flexibility. These skills are present from the base version of a weapon and can be enhanced through upgrades, gaining additional skills and increased attack power. This change integrates with the dual-weapon system, enabling skill retention when switching weapons mid-hunt.
Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds now feature unique Equipment Skills directly tied to them. This is a significant departure from previous titles where skills were primarily armor-bound. For instance, the Hope Blade's base version includes Speed Sharpening Level 1, which upgrades to include Critical Eye Level 1 at Hope Blade III, alongside enhanced attack power. Early-game weapons showcase this with skills like Critical Draw on the Buster Sword I and Focus with Attack Boost on the Bone Blade II. This system allows players to focus offensive skills like Attack Boost or Speed Sharpening on their weapons, while armor can provide supportive or defensive skills such as Speed Eating. Skills remain on gear during upgrades, with additional skills becoming available as weapons are enhanced.
