Booster Placement & Usage
Boosters are essential support items in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, providing crucial buffs to your hunting party. Understanding their placement and optimal usage can significantly increase your success rate on challenging hunts, especially in multiplayer. There are two primary types of Boosters: the Health Booster and the Affinity Booster.
The Health Booster is a deployable item that creates an area of effect, gradually restoring the health of any hunter within its radius. Its primary function is to provide sustained healing during combat, allowing your party to recover from chip damage or recover from significant hits without needing to rely solely on individual healing items. The Health Booster has a limited duration and a cooldown period after deployment.
The Affinity Booster, on the other hand, temporarily increases the affinity (critical hit chance) of all hunters within its area of effect. This is a powerful offensive tool that can dramatically boost your party's damage output, leading to faster monster kills. Like the Health Booster, it has a limited duration and a cooldown.
Placement and Usage Strategies:
- Health Booster:
- Place it in a relatively safe area where hunters can retreat to heal without being immediately targeted.
- Consider placing it near areas where the monster frequently repositions or during phases where the monster is less aggressive, allowing for safe healing.
- In multiplayer, coordinate with your teammates. The Palico can often deploy it strategically, or a hunter can place it during a lull in combat.
- Affinity Booster:
- Deploy it during periods of high monster aggression or when the monster is vulnerable, such as when it's enraged or has just finished a major attack.
- Position it so that all active hunters can benefit from the increased affinity. This might mean placing it in the center of the combat arena.
- Communicate with your team. Announce when you're deploying the Affinity Booster so others can capitalize on the increased critical hit chance.
Both Boosters can be crafted at the Smithy using various monster materials and other crafting components. It's highly recommended to have at least one of each in your item loadout for most Master Rank hunts. Remember to manage their cooldowns and deploy them strategically to maximize their impact on the hunt.
