Weaknesses and Resistances

The Ruiner Nergigante has a slight weakness to Fire and Water. It is moderately weak to Thunder and Ice. Its primary weakness is to Blunt damage (Impact), making weapons like Hammers and Hunting Horns very effective. It is highly resistant to Dragon element, so avoid using Dragon weapons.

Key Attacks and How to Evade

• Spike Barrage: The Ruiner Nergigante sheds its spikes, which then launch towards the hunter. These are fast and can be difficult to dodge entirely. Positioning and well-timed rolls are key.
• Dive Bomb: It leaps into the air and slams down, creating a devastating AoE. This attack has a significant wind-up, giving you ample time to roll away.
• Charge and Slam: A powerful charge that can be dodged by rolling to the side, often followed by a ground slam.
• Spike Regeneration: Its most dangerous mechanic is its ability to regenerate spikes on its body. These spikes become harder and deal more damage as they grow. Breaking these spikes is crucial to reducing its threat.

Once they turn white, they are hardened and deal significantly more damage. Focus on breaking these spikes whenever possible. Hitting its head and forelegs can stagger it and interrupt its attacks, creating openings to break spikes. When its spikes are hardened, prioritize evasion and defensive skills. The Ruiner Nergigante is relentless, so don't get greedy with attacks. Learn its attack patterns and punish its recovery animations. Using Flash Pods can sometimes interrupt its aerial attacks, but be mindful of its resistance to them.
