Personalizing Your Sanctuary: Room Customization and Decorations
Your Hunter's Room in Seliana (or Astera in the base game) is more than just a place to rest; it's a canvas for self-expression and a functional hub. Room Customization allows you to personalize your living space with several furniture and decorations, while Decorations are crucial items that slot into your armor and weapons to provide valuable skill bonuses.
Room Customization:
Upon arriving in Seliana, you'll gain access to your personal room, which can be customized extensively. You can purchase new furniture and decorative items from the Smithy or unlock them through various in-game activities, such as completing certain quests or gathering specific materials. These items range from functional pieces like the Palico Gear Station and the Training Area dummy to purely aesthetic additions like paintings, plants, and statues.
- Furniture Sets: You can acquire themed furniture sets that offer a cohesive look for your room.
- Palico Gear: Customize your Palico's appearance with different outfits and accessories.
- Wall Decorations: Hang trophies, weapons, and other items on your walls.
- Floor and Wall Textures: Change the appearance of your room's surfaces.
The ability to customize your room is unlocked progressively. As you advance through the story and complete specific quests, more options will become available. Your room also serves as a convenient place to manage your item box, change your equipment, and interact with your Palico.
Decorations:
Decorations are consumable items that provide passive skill bonuses when slotted into armor and weapon slots. They are one of the most critical elements for optimizing your builds and overcoming challenging monsters. Decorations are obtained primarily through:
- Investigations: Many high-rank and Master Rank investigations offer Decorations as bonus rewards.
- Tempered Investigations: These are particularly lucrative for obtaining rare and powerful Decorations.
- Event Quests: Certain event quests are specifically designed to reward players with a high chance of obtaining Decorations.
- Melding: The Elder Melder can combine materials to create Decorations, though this is often a less efficient method for acquiring specific ones.
Each piece of armor and most weapons have a set number of Decoration slots, often of varying sizes (Level 1, 2, 3, or 4). Larger slots can accommodate higher-level Decorations or multiple smaller ones. The skills provided by Decorations can significantly enhance your damage output, survivability, or utility. For example, skills like Attack Boost, Critical Eye, Health Boost, and Evade Window are commonly sought after and can be acquired through Decorations.
Managing your Decorations and strategically slotting them into your gear is a core part of the endgame experience in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Experiment with different combinations to create builds tailored to specific monsters or playstyles.
