Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is teeming with dynamic environments that hunters can leverage to their advantage. Beyond the direct combat with a monster, the world itself presents numerous opportunities for tactical engagement. One of the most spectacular of these is the "Turf War." When two large monsters encounter each other in the wild, they will often engage in a territorial battle, a Turf War. These battles are visually impressive and can be incredibly beneficial to hunters. During a Turf War, the monsters will trade blows, and the victor will often be left with a brief period of vulnerability, or the loser might be forced to retreat, creating a window for focused attacks.

Hunters can strategically position themselves to observe these Turf Wars and capitalize on the aftermath. Sometimes, one monster will inflict significant damage on the other, or even break parts. It's also possible to bait monsters into Turf Wars by luring them into the same area. Pay attention to the monster's behavior and the environment; sometimes a Turf War can be triggered by simply being present when two large monsters cross paths.

In addition to Turf Wars, the environments are littered with natural traps. These can include falling rocks, poisonous gas vents, explosive plants, or even unstable ground that can cause monsters to stumble. Learning to identify and utilize these environmental hazards is crucial. For example, luring a monster beneath a cluster of boulders and then attacking the support structure can cause them to fall, dealing massive damage and potentially stunning the beast. Similarly, detonating explosive plants near a monster can create a powerful blast. Mastering the use of the environment, from ledge-jumping to utilizing these natural traps, significantly enhances your hunting efficiency and survival.
