Beyond the thrill of the hunt and the pursuit of powerful gear, Monster Hunter: World offers a world rich with discoverable items and collectibles. These elements add depth to your exploration, rewarding keen observation and providing valuable insights into the game's lore and mechanics.

While monster materials are crucial for progression, Monster Hunter: World also features various key items and collectibles that enhance your experience. These range from crafting ingredients found in the environment to lore-heavy items that flesh out the world. Environmental materials are gathered by interacting with specific nodes in each biome. These include ores like Iron Ore and Machalite Ore, bones like Monster Bone+ and Large Monster Bone, and plants like Mandragora and Sleep Herb. These are essential for crafting potions, traps, and basic weapon upgrades. Some rare environmental materials, like unique mushrooms or insects, can be found in specific locations or during certain times of day. The Research Commission requests are another important aspect. These are optional objectives that often require you to gather specific items or hunt certain monsters. Completing these requests rewards you with Zenny, research points, and sometimes unique items or decorations. Decorations are powerful gems that can be slotted into your armor and weapons to grant additional skills or boost existing ones. Another important collectible is the endemic life found in each area. These small creatures can be captured using the Capture Net and displayed in your room at Astera. Collecting all endemic life in a region often unlocks special rewards or achievements. Lore-wise, you'll find ancient carvings, monster tracks, and other clues that piece together the history of the New World and its inhabitants. These are often found during expeditions and can be scanned using your Scoutflies. Don't forget about the canteen ingredients! These are gathered from the environment and are used to prepare meals that provide temporary buffs before a hunt. Mastering the gathering of these items is as important as mastering combat, as they form the foundation of your crafting and survival capabilities. Always keep an eye on your minimap for gathering nodes and explore every nook and cranny of the diverse biomes.
