Weapons: Crafting & Upgrading — Monster Hunter: World Guide

Weapons are crafted and upgraded at the Smithy in Astera. The weapon tree shows all possible upgrade paths. You'll need monster parts, ores, and bones to craft and upgrade. Upgrading increases raw damage, elemental damage, sharpness, and sometimes adds new skills or slots. Pay attention to a weapon's Sharpness (melee) or Ammo Types (ranged), Affinity (critical hit chance), and Elemental/Status Damage. Early on, focus on raw damage, then branch out into elemental weapons as you encounter monsters with specific weaknesses. augment your weapons in the endgame for further enhancements.
